I've been trying to find out who my gggggrandfather's wife was ------my William JAMES was from MD and died in Jefferson Co., KY on 3 Feb. 1834---the children were born in MD. He moved with his children to Jefferson Co., KY in the early 1800's---land and marriage records are facts of this. The children were: 1. William Bailey JAMES (born app. 1794) who took the name of William JAMES after the father died--he married Eliza SMALLWOOD in 1815 2. Priscilla JAMES b. app. 1792 m. William SMITH (she was dead by 1834) 3. Nancy JAMES b. 1787 m. Bart. ELLINGSWORTH and moved into Green Co., IN 4. Isaac JAMES b. app. 1800 m. Elizabeth ELLINGSWORTH (she married Henry THORN on 20 Nov 1825(Isaac was dead by then) Isaac married on 12 Mar 1821--was dead by age 25--had 2 children: Jesse JAMES and Nancy JAMES(Jesse went to IN with aunt Nancy ELLINGSWORTH--unsure about Nancy JAMES, dau. to Isaac JAMES) Isaac was married only app. 3 years--- All marriages took place in Jefferson Co. KY and are proven. I would like to know where in MD they came from---did they come straight from MD to KY or did they stop in the Carolinas and TN then come to KY? All the children were born in MD and had Methodists weddings, I think. I would also like to know who was the wife of William JAMES ----the father of these children. Can anyone help? [email protected]
