    3. And here are the 25 marker results for Joe M. James who is now a perfect 25 marker match with Warren James of the David James of Chester Co, PA line and he did not even know that was his line! These are great results and we hope that Scott Williams can work on getting Elias James of NC back to David James of Chester Co, PA. Lee Allyn James should have his 25 markers by early December and we hope that he is still a match for this family group. 3. Here it is, already! The 25 marker results for John Stewart James. He now has no 25 marker matches and they are now listing only one 12 marker match with the one mutation. So the suspense is over. 3. I am seeing these posts regarding James' DNA..........has any male descended from the Samuel James of Orange Co., Va had their DNA tested or is in the process of having testing done? If so, I would like to compare results. I, and another James' descendant of Samuel James, each had a cousin tested and we matched perfectly. This was through another James' site. Bev

    3. Hi Bev: All of our James family lines and the DNA numbers are there on the website. http://www.familytreedna.com/public/james/ I don't see a Samuel James of Orange Co., VA. Do your numbers in your test match with any of the numbers in our tests. FTDNA provides a chart on the website showing all of the test numbers. Please let us know if you see anyone who is a match. 3. Well this shows the value of the DNA testing, doesn't it?! I am very surprised with the results. John Stewart JAMES had his line traced back as far as Samuel JAMES, and had an old bio on Samuel that listed Samuel's parents. This bit of info then tied John in with our David James of Chester co, PA line. SO WHAT WENT WRONG? My initial guess (which could be wrong) is that the bio that John has for Samuel James is correct--but that Samuel is NOT John's ancestor-- John has perhaps linked himself to the wrong Samuel. I guess that's what I'll have to discuss with John. As proven by Gene James DNA test results, the early part of the James line is correct, so it has to be somewhere later in John's line where he has made an incorrect link. Darn it!!!! I'll say it again---This shows the value of the DNA testing, doesn't it?!!!!!!!! Gwen, do you have any other ideas why John did not get the expected match to the David James ancestor??? 3. I can see that these results have caused a stir in the James group!! As someone pointed out, it is a one marker mutation in the 12 marker match and therefore it is not a very close relationship. The 25 marker test is absolutely essential and we will soon know if it is a true match or no match at all. My guess right now is that it is going to be no match at all. Susan is probably right in that the connection with Samuel James is not correct and John is right that we need to remove his line for now. So we will all just wait for those 25 marker results. But I agree with Susan, these DNA tests are valuable!! 3. Jim, I'm going to forward your email to me to the entire James List because I don't recognize your family offhand. Maybe it will ring a bell with someone else. My David JAMES came from Wales to Chester county, PA, where he died. He lived from 1669-1739. I don't have his parents or siblings names. I don't have anyone named HERRING in my line of James'. Susan JIM'S EMAIL: From: Walstein33@aol.com For years I've suspected that my 4th great grandfather WILLIAM JAMES HERRING (ca. 1710-1786) might be named by his father DAVID HERRING (ca. 1670 - 1740) at Potecasi NC. for a maternal uncle named WILLIAM JAMES, a brother of DAVID HERRING's mother, [-----?--- ---- JAMES? HERRING], wife of ROBERT HERRING (ca. 1640-1710) who was granted land on headwaters of the west branch of Nansemond River in 1662, apparently adjacent to the Nansemond Indian Village. Could DAVID JAMES and WILLIAM JAMES HERRING be first cousins? WM. JAS. HERRING had a brother THOMAS HERRING. Jim Herring, Ridgeland MS

    3. Hi Fran: You can post your gedcom on Rootsweb WorldConnect. That is a great place to post your family. http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igmuser.cgi You can match your line with the ones who have had the DNA test and then write to them. You may have to go back another generation to find a 2nd cousin for the test. Look for someone among your grandparent's siblings and find a cousin there. I even went back to my great grandparents on the McBee DNA test. All you need is a direct male line that bears the name. Do you match family lines with anyone that has been tested in the James DNA test? We just had a lady sign on with a James from the Bucks Co, PA line that traces back to Wales. I must get her line posted now. This is going to be another exciting day for the James DNA test. http://www.familytreedna.com/public/james/ Gwen Boyer Bjorkman gwenbj@seanet.com -----Original Message----- From: SIDNEY L NALLY [mailto:nallyclan3@msn.com] Sent: Tuesday, October 18, 2005 8:49 PM To: JAMES-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [JAMES-L] Re: JAMES-D Digest V05 #60 I am a female with a James line but no known male James cousins. 3. I am a female with a James line but no known male James cousins. I do however have my James line detailed where and when from about 1810 to present. Is there somewhere I could post this where it's shared with other James researchers that have been able to have the dna test. 3. Hi Ann, It's amazing how many people with the surname of JAMES somewhere in their tree think they might be related to Frank & Jesse James. I've also noticed that most say that the outlaws visited their ancestors!!! Anyway, their James line is pretty well documented, so you should be able to find out pretty easily whether you are truly related to them or not. I believe their ancestors were Welsh, and came to America in the 1600 or 1700's, but it's not my line, so I don't have the details in front of me. Try Rootsweb Worldconnect and see what you can find out. As someone already mentioned to you, you do need a male with the surname of JAMES to take the DNA test. I wish you luck in finding someone!! I noticed your name is Pickering. I have Pickerings in my family. They came from England to Pennsylvania and were Quakers. 3. Hi Ann: I will just add to what Joan said previously. Looks like you have the George James 1855-1934 who has some sons. You will have to write to one of them and see if they will agree to take the DNA test. Then you can sign on at the James DNA website, where it says "Join this Group" and have the test kit mailed to that man and the invoice mailed to you. Or you can pay by credit card when you sign up. The man will do the test which is a sponge swab of the inside of the cheek and mail it back to FTDNA and then we wait for the results. We all seem to have family stories about being related to Jesse James and I wish we could get someone in the test with a proven family line. But we are forming some great James family groups and we would love to see who you are related to. Here is the website address: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/james/ You can see all of the family lines there on the website. I think the only one that I don't have yet is this one. 3. Hi Gwen and All, I'm a little bit in shock--a match from a line for which I previously had no knowledge! JOE M. JAMES #40303 E-mail: Scott K. Williams showmemule@earthlink.net Joe Clark James 1896 Franklin Co, AL-1985 Memphis, TN Alfred Clark James 1870 Franklin Co, AL-1937 Lee Co, MS/Cammie Rachaeline George Elias James 1836 Franklin Co, AL-1917 Franklin Co, AL/Cynthia McGary Richardson Thomas A. James abt. 1803 GA or TN-1850 Franklin Co, AL/Mary Polly Bonds Elias James, 1770-1780 (Wilmington District NC ?)-1840- 1850 Franklin Co, AL By reviewing the names, I see Elias and Thomas. I also looked on Rootsweb Worldconnect and checked out the siblings, one especially catching my eye was David James. These names lead me to believe this line descends from David James' (1669-1739) son Thomas, who had a son Elias (born much earlier than 1770). That branch of the family moved to Virginia. We will have to figure out who this Elias b. 1770-1780 is!!!! Is Scott Williams on this List? If so, please contact me Scott. I've been researching the James famiy since 1979 and am very interested in tying your line in to ours. Susan
