    3. This is SO interesting Gwen. I agree with you on your initial thoughts on this line. 1. Aaron James
    2. I am looking for any information about (?) greatgrandfather Aaron James, Born 1755 in Bucks county Pa. Served in the Revolutionary war. He migrated to North or South Carolina and then moved to Tennessee, where he died. Would like to know his parents names and if they came from Englad or Wales. Whatever the line, there seems to be an Aaron James in every other generation. My Grandfather was also Aaron James and to my knowledge, he is the last Aaron. Thanks Linda James Harris

    3. Hey James List! More exciting DNA results today. It is Harry Comly James 25 markers. He had 3 matches with other surnames in the 12 marker test, but in the 25 marker test he no longer matches any of them. That is why it is so important to confirm a 12 marker match with the 25 marker test. Harry now has no matches at all in the FTDNA database. He is a new James family from Philadelphia, PA just waiting for a match. We had one man inquiring today from England and it would be so good to get some men from England involved in the DNA test. We also have another man, Franklin James, who just signed on to the James DNA test, so we still have some matches to look forward to in the coming weeks. 3. This may change everything. Look what I just noticed today!! Charles Wesley James and Marvin James are claiming the same ancestors and they don't DNA match at all!! So only one of you can rightfully claim this line from William James of Pembrokeshire Wales. I also found a very good website on this line. http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=dalsup&id=I04498 David Alsup says: This relationship [of Thomas James] to the father, Benjamin James, is not proven. So even though we know that all three of the men are very closely related there has been two mutations in the Richard Hoyt James line. This is David Mitchell James family line and I would like to hear his comments about this. In comparing 37 markers, the probability that David M. James and Robert E. James shared a common ancestor within the last... 100 years is 83.49% 200 years is 97.28% 300 years is 99.55% 400 years is 99.93% 500 years is 99.99% 600 years is 100% In comparing 37 markers, the probability that David M. Richard James is my father's 2nd cousin. Their grandfathers were brothers, sons of my great grandfather, Josiah Eaton James, b 1849 in Calais, Washington, ME and d 1920 in Princeton, Washington, ME. So, the predictor is pretty good -- My father and I do share a common ancestor in the last 100 years, and Richard James and I do not, but we do share a common ancestor in the last 200 years. One of my goals in joining this project was to establish a DNA "fingerprint" for our family. Based on these results, I need to find another cousin to test, in order to find out whether Richard Hoyt James' result or the result for me and my father is the one passed down from our common ancestor, Josiah James. And, in the bigger picture, I'm still waiting for someone with a documented lineage back to Edmund James of Newbury, MA, that is different from Josiah's to see if our Washington County, Maine, branch really does descend from him. 1. George JAMES: Indiana>Missouri

    3. Seeing references to George James, reminds me that I haven't posted regarding another George. Since I have been unsuccessful to this point with much on this line, I thought I would give my George a shot. Here's what I know: George JAMES, b. ca. 1840 in LaPorte Co. Indiana to William & Elizabeth (Betsy) JOHNSON JAMES. His siblings were Sarah Ann JAMES TITUS; Ruth(a) JAMES TITUS LONG-both girls married in Holt County, MO; Samuel, Hiram, and perhaps Hannah about whom I know nothing. George is listed on school enumeration records in Indiana in the 1840's and appears with his parents & siblings on the 1850 LaPorte Co Census. I presume he came with his mother to Holt County, Missouri when she arrived in the early 1850's. No record of his father or other siblings after 1850. He is believed to have married an Anna PERKINS in either Buchanan or Holt Co, Missouri. He served in the Civil War as I have a very faded picture of him in uniform...I don't recognize if it is Union or Confederate and the George JAMESes are numerous in Missouri CW records. Does this guy appear in anyone's records? Thanks for your help. Merri

    1. JAMES families in Vadalia, MO
    2. lthank
    3. I am wishing contact with any JAMES researchers who might have had family in the area of Vandalia, Missouri in between 1874 and 1885. Our mystery Grandfather Harry JAMES had a photo of his mother (in 1885 circs dress). She was either a JAMES or married to a JAMES. The photo has a stamp on the back from a photographer from Vandalia, Missouri by F. B. Carver's Studio. We have looked for links for over 5 years for Harry JAMES family. He left home at age nine when his mother re-married; he didn't get along with the step-dad. There was a younger sister who taught him how to read before he left home and with whom he managed to maintain some type of contact. He had a mystery visitor around the circa of 1910 in the middle of the night.........could have been anyone from a cousin to an acquaintance; would never give out what it was about. He arrived in Wallace, Idaho and Burke gold fields with a railroad job as a brakeman and ended up being yardmaster during the fire of 1910 that burned half of Wallace to the ground. He retired as a pumpman at the Hecla Gold Mine but did a few years as a deputy sheriff for Shoshone County, Idaho in the 1920's. He died in 1960. Please, can someone tell us if there were any JAMES families in the Vandalia area about this time? Other names in the mystery background are BIRDSELL, ANGELO, MOURNING, HERRON which have been associated by marriages from the family census grouping of 1850 thru 1880.............this group is made up from the notes garnered from surviving cousins and from photos which have been just identified as BIRDSELL/WILLIAMS links in Cook County and from Morgan County, Illinois, circa 1930's and 1940's which were also in possession of Harry James.
