    3. Here are some notes of which I made for myself about the will of James JAMES in relation to the contents. Maybe some others have something to add? notes made from this will: 1. All spelling can be worked with soundex for variations of other surnames in this will. 2. This James JAMES had a wife named Elizabeth. 3. This James JAMES had a nephew named James JAMES. He must have been of majority age as he was given the job of paying the debts. 4. This James JAMES had a brother named John JAMES. 5. This James and his brother John hah a sister who was name Rachel who was married to a SHOELS. 6. This James JAMES had a friend or relative named Elizabeth ARON. (could be for IRON). 7. This James JAMES' brother John had a daughter named Catharina WILLIAMS. 8. This James JAMES had friends or neighbors or relatives who were named George GENTLE and Isaac HARRIS. 9. This James JAMES had lands which bounded with a person with or a plantation or (??something) named "Wosrealer land" 10. This James JAMES was familiar with and preferred to use "Pensyvania currency" which would indicate to me that perhaps he was not willing to have his possessions valued by resources in any form other than one that was guaranteed to produce the actual values thereof. Perhaps his lands were involved in leases or grants which originated in Pennsylvania. 11. The list of names of children and relations does not totally signify the entirety of James JAMES children. However, most old will do........keep open minded! ----- Original Message ----- From: Fred H Held To: JAMES-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, June 22, 2006 6:35 AM Subject: [JAMES-L] RE: James James will 1793/1798 It appears that these data in the LDS Ancestral File submitted by ELIZABETH B SEVISON might be your man. ========================== Family Group Record FamilySearchT Ancestral File v4.19 Husband's Name Thomas JAMES (AFN:JLMV-R9) Born: 29 Jan 1716 Place: Philadelphia, Pa Died: 1761 Father: Thomas JAMES (AFN:JLMV-PX) Mother: Sarah (AFN:JLMV-Q4) Wife's Name Mary THOMAS (AFN:JLMV-J3) Born: Abt. 1720 Place: <Philadelphia, Pa> Children: 1. 3. Great Posting, Rose! It makes sense that the North Carolina JAMES families which occupy surrounding counties to these census reports and also the will of James JAMES, and those who may have removed from such places at a later time need to look closer at some of these persons; if there is some active posting on their lines we could possibly find some things as a group to help make connections. Summer time is a difficult time to keep action going and some people do miss critical postings. Group activity is essential for everyone involved in genealogy if people can't afford to hire outside researchers. Learning resources and possible courts for resources, church records, etc. is essential also. Thanks Much! ----- Original Message ----- From: Rose Kinney To: JAMES-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, June 22, 2006 7:21 AM Subject: Re: [JAMES-L] RE: James James will 1793/1798 Census Information for the years closest to the will. 1790 Not Stated, Rowan, NC James James 2-0-0-2 (note: hh of Benjamin Williams, hh of George Williams, and hh of Isaac Harris, all directly above him, other James head of hh close by are Beal James and Vachel James, each with just 2 family members listed. 1800 Salisbury, Rowan, NC (image # 82 of 176) Thomas James 0-0-1-0-0-2-0-0-1 (note: surrounding families are Isaac James/Jones, Aquilla James/Jones, Seith James/Jones, David James/Jones, and William James/Jones. 1. Glen JAMES of Minnesota
    2. lthank
    3. Looking for descendants of Glen(n) H.JAMES who was born in Iowa in ca 19003/04 in Wisconsin. He moved between Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota and may have lived in California (only a guess). He may have even died before his parents and may not have any! The search is about his mother and father: Herbert W. JAMES born in Iowa ca 1884/86. son of : (??) JAMES who may have been English, Canadian, or American [ census readings vary, but 1880 says English, 1885 and 1895 Iowa State say foreign and English] and Phebe DONALDSON who was born in Canada. Herbert married Myrtle [given name of Ellen Myrtle} KENDALL who was also born in Iowa in ca 1899. Her parents given as Lucy STOLL [STOWELL] and George A. KENDALL by research. I have ordered their death certificates for more verification. These families of KENDALL, DONALDSON, and JAMES have history of living in the triangle corners areas of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa for years. Herbert's mother Phebe JAMES died ca 1935 in Ramsey County, Minnesota as did her son, Herbert who died in 1965. Myrtle KENDALL-JAMES died in Los Angeles in 1958. We are not sure if there was a divorce or she was visiting, perhaps her daughter, "Bernice" [which may also be wrong!??]. This is a most interesting family photo research and discovery project. The interesting fact about Glen: he was 17 and listed in the 1930 census as the head of household in Mille Lacs Co., Wisconsin with no job but was listed with his Grandmother, Phebe JAMES who was given as a "farmer". They may have been on a family farm where the DONALDSON family had land as the elder brothers of Phebe were mostly single and there were about 5 of them. I speculate that perhaps Glen needed a place to land as his parents ,sister, and Uncle Richard JAMES were boarding in a household in Ramsey County, Minnesota.....St. Paul where the men, including the head of house were listed as "private contractors". Herbert and Richard may have been employed by the head of house or for the same "contractor" as the head. Hope someone may recognize something in these facts or be interested in the surrounding research from these counties Iowa: FILLMORE, WINONA, KOSSUTH, WINNESHIEK. in Minnesota: RAMSEY in Wisconsin: MILLE LACS. Buried in the WINNESHIEK cemetery: James, Mary 27 1881 1908 Bluffton Ceme Bluffton Twp James, Napoleon 91 1842 Nov 9 1933 Nov 18 Lutheran Cem Decorah Twp KOSSUTH and WINNESHIEK counties in Iowa seem to be the early beginnings of the relationship with the JAMES/DONALDSON marriage of the English James JAMES and Phebe DONALDSON. James JAMES was 31 and single in 1880 in Wesley, Kossuth, Iowa, 38 in same place in 1885 Iowa State census with the Township name given of Elkhorn. In the Iowa 1895 State census of Wesley, Kossuth, Iowa. The family has listed 4 sons in same place with Jim(a) age 46, Feba age 39 George H.(11), Herbert W. (9), Richard (3), and Russell (0) [Russell is under 1 year old thus enumerated age of "0"). Of the 4 boys. have only found Richard JAMES who died and never married in Minnesota. Phebe DONALDSON was 25 and single in 1880 in Wesley, Kossuth, Iowa. I estimate the marriage as being in about 1883, Kossuth, Iowa. Most of her family were mostly in Decorah census lists at this time. Regards, Linda

    3. Hi James List: We have the new 37 marker results for Charles Wesley James and he has a one mutation match with Milton Everett James. These two men match the other three descendants of Joseph Rogers James in the 25 marker test and we think that they both probably go back to Joseph Rogers James, but we have not been able to prove it yet. They live in all of the same places. You can see the family lines in this group up on the James DNA website. We probably should extend the other three tests to 37 markers, but two of the other tests are perfect 25 marker matches with Milton and Charles. I do believe that we are all from the same James family. http://www.jamesdna.net 54564 Milton Everett James R1b1c 12 24 14 11 11 11 12 12 14 14 13 30 19 9 10 11 11 25 15 20 28 15 15 16 17 11 11 19 23 15 16 19 18 37 40 12 12 (John) 45468 Charles Wesley James R1b1c 12 24 14 11 11 11 12 12 14 14 13 30 19 9 10 11 11 25 15 20 28 15 15 16 17 11 11 19 23 15 16 19 18 36 40 12 12 (Thomas) Gwen Boyer Bjorkman gwenbj@seanet.com -----Original Message----- From: info@familytreedna.com [mailto:info@familytreedna.com] Sent: Monday, June 19, 2006 1:27 PM To: jamesdm49@aol.com; gwenbj@seanet.com Subject: New DNA Test Results Posted for a Group Member in Group James New Y-DNA26-37 results have been posted for Kit 45468, a member of your Family Tree DNA James group. 3. Well, to make a long story short, I used one of the boys.......George........ and the county of which they lived in with the Grandma in 1900. Didn't seem to make sense the Grandma had moved as she was consistent everywhere else. Bingo and I hit George; so I eliminated the first names and just used the surname, put the County in the county box and put the town name where I found George. I hit the whole family; and found out, too, why I was not able to find any "Phebe"........here is the extraction and you can have fun reading it! ************************* 1895 IOWA Census: Iowa State Census, 1895 Record Jima James 46 Ingland W Kossuth Wisley (aka James JAMES) Feba James 39 Canady W Kossuth Wisley (aka Phebe) George H. 1. JAMES in Georgia
    2. I know that there are some newcomers to the James-L list, and would like for them to know the JAMES I am looking for. My 3rd Great Grandmother was Francis (spelled this way in most records) Maria James. She was called Frankie. The D.O.B on her records in Forsyth Co. GA, and on her gravestone, show her birth as 1822, and her death as 1891. She was married to John B. Bottoms. They lived at Settin' Down Creek in Forsyth Co. GA and are buried at Zion Hill Cemetery, in Cumming, Forsyth Co. GA. I know of no siblings, nor the parents of Francis Maria. If anyone knows anything about this JAMES line, I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks. Arlene
