Thanks, Shirley -----Original Message----- From: Michael D. I've been trying to find out who my gggggrandfather's wife was ------my William JAMES was from MD and died in Jefferson Co., KY on 3 Feb. 1834---the children were born in MD. He moved with his children to Jefferson Co., KY in the early 1800's---land and marriage records are facts of this. The children were: 1. William Bailey JAMES (born app. 1794) who took the name of William JAMES after the father died--he married Eliza SMALLWOOD in 1815 2. Priscilla JAMES b. app. 1792 m. William SMITH (she was dead by 1834) 3. Nancy JAMES b. 1787 m. Bart. ELLINGSWORTH and moved into Green Co., IN 4. Isaac JAMES b. app. 1800 m. Elizabeth ELLINGSWORTH (she married Henry THORN on 20 Nov 1825(Isaac was dead by then) Isaac married on 12 Mar 1821--was dead by age 25--had 2 children: Jesse JAMES and Nancy JAMES(Jesse went to IN with aunt Nancy ELLINGSWORTH--unsure about Nancy JAMES, dau. to Isaac JAMES) Isaac was married only app. 3 years--- All marriages took place in Jefferson Co. KY and are proven. I would like to know where in MD they came from---did they come straight from MD to KY or did they stop in the Carolinas and TN then come to KY? All the children were born in MD and had Methodists weddings, I think. I would also like to know who was the wife of William JAMES ----the father of these children. Can anyone help? [email protected]

James and Anne Wyndham, but never got a response. In view of the the documentation of this couple by other James researchers, and the dates in the outline, this genealogy falls apart from the very beginning. I note that John James, b. 1750, is reported to have been born in James City Co, VA, about the same year that William James 1711 died in Williiamsburg, South Carolina. This William James, 1711, is reported to have a will that was probated in Jan 1750. If anyone has a copy of this will, would you please share it with the List. If not , I will send for a copy of his will. Any information on who this William James of 1711 was or information on his family will be helpful. Michael, I really doubt that this William James 1711 is the father of John James, 1750, but I could be wrong. In any event, he needs to be confirmed or eliminated. I am posting this obit hoping some one may know who Arthur W. JAMES' wife was and what the children's names were. The obit names their spouses surname. Any information on them would be appreciated also. Arthur W. James, born Sept. 26 1864, in Rush, PA; died at Takoma Park, MD, Dec 1960. He graduated from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn., and studied four additional years in Europe, receiving his Doctor of Philosophy degree from University of Munich. He taught at several universities, and then joined the public school system of Chicago, Ill., in 1908. He taught Bible classes for many years at Emmanuel Missionary College and Madison College, and often studied the lessons in foreign languages. He taught until he was 80 years of age, and after that was active in tutoring. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. W. H. Williams of Escondido, CA., Mrs W. E. Murray of Takoma Park, MD, and Mrs C. F. Walls of Doan, Ind.; seven grand children and 12 great-grandchildren. Thanks in advance. Dick [email protected]

To: Mary Chandler, Waco, TX From: Michael Nelson, Fullerton CA Hi Mary. You put on the James rootsweb list a genealogy which ended by saying "...None of this is documented, sorry to say, and I welcome any additions or corrections. I obtained most of the information from 'History of Williamsburg' by Wm. Willis Bodde and the rest from FTM, IGI and the message boards." I am not a genealogist, so I don't know what "FTM" or "IGI" are. Please tell me what they are and how I can look at them. You also mentioned a "...Will written 07/09/1749, probated 01/18/1750..." for William James b(1711) d(ca1750) Williamsburg, Craven Co SC. Do you have a copy or have you seen it? Thanks for your time. To: Sarah McKenzie from: Michael Nelson > Sarah Jane McKenize wrote: > I have a book on the Borah Family that I bought would help me in my research > of the James family. Are you aware there is a book? > [email protected] Hello Sarah. Nope, I am not personally aware of that genealogy book. But I am not a genealogist, expert or even very knowledgeable. I am a compiler of other folks' efforts. The short answer is that I do not have competent information on genealogy books. I know that there are genealogy books, and some dealing with the 'James' line. I have borrowed the Glen Warren, the Dorothy Turner and the Gary Burke books from cousin Thurston James. I gathered almost all the data I have from folks like you, getting mostly contemporary data from individuals and working back and forth between my sources. I used Glen, Dorothy and Lucas as the base, and have added and amended as new stuff comes in. I am a firm believer in candidness and an open exchange. None of the data I have is from original research by me, someone gave it to me. Therefore, whoever wants to share it is welcome to it. I only ask folks to share what they have. I recognize that many people have invested considerable time and expense in research, and might even like to be recognized by being published. More power to them, I see that as a reasonable and honorable action. If they, you, I and all the other folks were doing this for wages, the cost of our efforts would rival the national debt. So our reward must be the "thank you" from someone we share with. I am rambling, so I will close. Michael

Good morning Georgia, Pleased to see your email. Would you like the progeny of Sarah 1796 and Samuel 1798 ? or the ancestors of Samuel? or both? I have them both, glad to share. I have them as: 2. son Samuel James b(08 Apr 1790) d(26 Dec 1862) Ohio Co KY : m1(19 Oct 1818) Patsy Rogers b() d(19 Dec 1820) : 3. son Thurston James b(11 Jun 1819) d(1819) : m2(25 Nov 1822) 'sallie' Sarah Mae Borah b(28 Sep 1796) d(25 Mar 1865) Ohio Co KY etc etc so my marriage date is different than yours. I assume that you are working the Borah line primarily? Michael
