Christopher JAMES, b. 1720, James City CO., VA. m. Lucy THOMPSON. They and their children are mentioned in a number of printed sources, such as, Americans of Gentle Birth, James Families of America Since 1630, Background of a Bandit and Beverly Stercula's manuscript on the Thompson families. None of these printed sources gives the original source documentation, such as bible records, church records, land records or written memorials by either a child or grandchild of this couple or wills. I am still searching for the original source documentation to back up all the printed material that I have found on Christopher James and his family. Christopher JAMES and Lucy THOMPSON had the following children, all born in Virginia: 1. Mary, b. abt 1748, m. 1st. John Garland, 2nd. James Pendleton 2. John, b. 1750 (my line) , m. 1st Elizabeth Morris, 2nd Lucy Mosby (my line) Both died in Ohio CO. KY. 3. Foster , b. abt 1752,, m.. Rebecca Cloug 4. Elizabeth, b. abt 1754, m. John Thompson 5. Lucy, b. 1757, m. Nathional Thompson 6. Thurston, b. 1759, m. Sarah Pendleton 7. George, b. 1763 8. Edward, b. 1763, m. Susanna Sheppard 9 Francis, b. 1766, m. unknown Childe. >From the book, James Families of America Since 1630, it gives child # 8 subsequent generations: # 8. Edward James, m. Susanna Sheppard: 1. Fleming m., Mary Armstrong a. Fleming Jr.. m. Mary Ella Duvall a1) Fleming ( b. 1877 in Gambier, OH) m., Rebecca Goodwin He became a noted theologian and author, served in Shanghai. b2) Fleming b. 1904, Shanghai; lawyer, educator, author; Yale law professor; Town Chairman, North Haven CT. I would appreciate hearing from any descendants of Christopher James & Lucy Thompson's children or anyone who can add to, correct, prove or disprove any of the above information. Hello everybody! Here's my James line- I'm looking for info on my great-grandfather, Henry (Albert?) JAMES (b.24 May 1855, UK (possibly England). He was the son of Robert JAMES b?, Wales. I don't know his mother's name. Henry married Sarah HALE(b. 4 May 1870 Eng.). She was the daughter of Matthew? HALE & Elizabeth MATHEWS (b. 10 Dec 1849 Eng. daughter of Henry MATHEWS & Eliza ROBERTS). Henry JAMES & Sarah HALE had 6 children: 1. Harry (Henry) John JAMES (my grandfather) b. 3 May 1892 London (?) Eng. He married Blanche SMITH 1911 South Orange, NJ. 2. Robert b. 7 Jun 1895 England ? 3. Arthur Edward b. 13 Aug 1896 South Orange, New Jersey, USA 4. Edith b. 16 Feb 1900 New Jersey, USA 5. George b. 24 Jul 1904 South Orange, N.J. USA 6. Albert Charles b. 11 Feb 1916 South Orange, N.J. USA Although Henry JAMES & Sarah Hale emigrated to the US about 1890, I am told they went back "home" to England for the birth of their first child, Harry JAMES, my grandfather. This might have been Henry's second marriage- i've been told he first married a woman named, Mary ?, from Ireland and that he and Mary lived in Jersey City and had children. Later Henry returned to the UK and married Sarah. I have also been told that Henry may have attended military school on the Isle of Wight. Henry was a painter and decorator. In past conversations with family members they remember growing up (in the1930's) and receiving mail from Kingston upon Thames (though possibly Sarah Hales' family). There's also mention of London, Kent and Wales. Henry, I'm told had brothers in England. Well, this is all i have to go on for now. Any information or suggestions are much appreciated. Happy Hunting to you all!! Thank you for this roll call! Jodee James [email protected]

Searching for William James. Middle name possibly Edgar. He died sometime within nine months of August 1863, as his wife was widowed but pregnant with his child. The wife was Pemilia Jane Eaves, and she re-married to George Washington Frary. The baby was William Edgar given the last name of Frary and born in Aug, 1863 in Denver Adams County, Colorada. So I am assuming that is where William James died. He is my great-great grandpa, and this is the whole extent of my James line as I always though my gpa's last name was Frary. Please help! Oh, his occupation was Freighter. Thanks! Sally [email protected] Searching S*T*E*W*A*R*T I trace family history so I'll know who to blame!

His wife was Rhoda Durham(unknown birth, parents or origin) and we have only two children listed: Patty b ca 1811 and married Mack Loveland and John James b. ca 1801 and married to Rachel Kelly(Belton, Anderson Co,SC). Here are my James, dead end for the parentage of James James. James James born ca. 1745-1760 in either Fauquer Co. VA or Cumberland SC. The only Rev. War records on a James James show him born in SC, but the remainder is unreadable, so I am not sure it is him. James married Mary Cole Speakman ca. 1787 Their first child was: Betsey James born ca. 1788 who married Daniel Wray. Further children didn't come until later: John James (my ancestor) born 18 Jan. 1790 in KY, mar. 1812 to Rachel Bray. John died 31 May 1887 in Moniteau Co. MO Abraham James, born 1792 in KY? (he listed himself as born in PA on a census record...) mar. 1st. 1816, Elizabeth Hall Scott. Lettie James born Ky or VA married Caleb Kelly James James born 18 Apr. 1795 in Monroe Co. KY, married Sarah Bray on 4 Feb. 1817 and was on the 1820 Monroe Co. KY census. Mary Ann Jaes born in KY and married ?? Grider. James James died ca. 1803 as his will was probated that year. He had been granted 100 acres on the east Fork of the Big Barren River in 1799 in what was then Green Co, later became Barren Co. and then Monroe Co. in 1820. His wife Mary lost custody of her children around 1806 for reasons unk. It is unk whether she married James as a Cole or a Speakman or married after his death and obtained those names then. She regained custody of her children in 1809 and she died ca. 1820 probably in KY. Her youngest children migrated to Moniteau Co. MO around 1822. Hope someone out there connects! I discovered information in the obituary of my great grandmother, Katherine Amanda James, that I should have included: "She was the youngest of 9 children all of whom have proceeded her to the grave except one brother. At the age of three years she moved with her parents to Ft. Wayne, Indiana. When she was 14 years old they moved by wagon to Nebraska, locating near Clarks. Later they moved to Silver Creek." Hope this connects with someone from my James family. 1._____? James b. PA m. _____? _____? b.MD 2. Joshua James b. 13 Oct 1811 MD d. 1895 NE m.
