    2. Am new to this list and just beginning my search for my James family. What little I know is this: Jesse JAMES was born in 1767 in Fort Ann, New York. His father was James JAMES, of "the Purest Yankee Stock from Rhode Island". Don't know who Jesse married but he had a daughter named Abigail, b. 27 Dec 1793 in Fort Ann, who married 26 Aug 1810, Mr. Clement Strang from Fort Ann or Stillwater, NY. Does anyone have further information on the ancestors or descendants of this Jesse James? Emma

    3. Hi James list! Just a note to let you know that the Jameson list is going nicely since spliting away from James. We now have about 130 subscribers and have had a couple of pretty big finds among the subscribers. We have also found my husband's Jamesons who came from the Shetland Islands!!!!! By way of Sunderland, England. This is really meant to be a word of encouragement to those of you who haven't discovered your "roots" yet. Listen to everything that is told to you by cousins and remember all the "family stories". They proabably have a grain of truth in them. A GRAIN, not a GRAM. We heard that the grandfather was from some island like Wight or maybe Man--someplace with a lot of sailors. Maybe Ireland. Well, someone told me that the greatgrandmother might have come from the Shetlands, so I left a message there last April and in December we were able to place the family. The records stopped when the family left for England. Now WE know where they came from and THEY know where they went. Barbara Prior Jameson List manager: JAMESON and MOLSBERRY

    3. Hello All, The LDS Family Search Website is on-line for testing. It is from time to time taken off-line so that corrections can be made. The results of tampering are becoming a pain. The address that you must use for now is http://32.96.111.13/default.asp during the test period. When you get to the Website, take your time and explore. It will take some getting accustomed to. You will need to learn the layout as you would being in a strange town or city. 3. Can anyone tell me of any James Family Books that are in print or available through libraries. When I was a little girl growing up in Paducah, KY, I saw a James Family book (small hardback, & green or grey) that my grandfather had of his family. Of course, I was too little to understand the importance of that book at the time. Now, my grandfather has passed on and my grandmother has Alzheimer's and cannot remember who she gave it to, or, if she even gave it away at all. Thanks in advance.
