Hi List Today I received my great grandfather's death cert from KS - I didn't have his exact date of death, just the year - hopefully, his wife's will arrive tomorrow. BTW, Harvey Kiah JAMES died 15 Aug 1944, just a month shy of his 86th birthday. Now, I need to find his obit (if any of you are in the Montgomery County, KS area - help!). One of his daughters, Katie Pearl was the (family) 'informant' on this death cert - Pearl (JAMES) PHILLIPS! In 1944 (when he died), she was living in Kansas City, MO. I would like very much to find any grandchildren of Pearl, or the other missing daughter, Lyda Opal JAMES. Any help greatly appreciated and hopefully I'll hear from some missing cousins out there!! Thanks! Julia Gordon Conkey Washington State
Piercie James married Robert Presley in Walton County, Georgia, on 7 July 1825. They moved to Talladega County, Alabama. Their daughter, Louisa Armisa Presley, was born 31 October 1855(?). Linda Nichols Stephenville, Texas
This is my husband's family--but since I am the one interested in our family history, I will post the info. Looking for any information on: 1) Robert James who married an Elizabeth Russel. They were natives of Belfast, Ireland who married in Philadelphia and then came west to settle in Randolph County, Illinois. They had 11 children and the only one we are for sure on is Alexander James who was born January 19, 1849 in Coulterville, Randolph County, Illinois and died on March 23, 1937 in Bladen, Nebraska. 2) Alexander came west in 1872 to homestead. In land claims records that were registered in Bloomington, Nebraska, Alexander claimed 160 acres 3 miles East and 1 mile South of Blue Hill, Nebraska. On September 7, 1876, Alexander married Jemima Simpson. They were the parents of John, Robert Edwin, Alvin, Samuel, Lee, Lillie, Mabel, Mary, Stella, and Charles. 3) Robert Edwin, born December 8, 1879 in Blue Hill, Nebraska died May 16, 1961, then married on December 6, 1905, Bertha May Nelson. Their children were: Howard Russel, Clyde, Clarence, Bertha Marie, and Stella Irene. 4) Howard Russel, was born January 15, 1913 in Bladen, Nebraska and died February 14, 1998 in Bladen, Nebraska. On September 12, 1936, he married Cloie Christina Wratten in Smith Center, Kansas. Their children are Richard and Mary Ann. 5) Mary Ann, was born Jamuary 31, 1938 in Bladen, Nebraska. She married Eldon Kile and their children are: Michael Anthony, Roxie Ann, Mary Christina, Carla Rene and John Russel. She later married Lloyd Gerten. 6) John Russel was born September 10, 1969 in Red Cloud, Nebraska. He married Marla Smith and they have as children: Joshua Eldon and Trinity Kristine with #3 on the way. That is all of the info that I have. I hope that someone can shed some more light on our family!! thanks, Marla Kile ome = more light on our family!! =20 thanks, Marla Kile

It would sure be helpful if folks would include the names, places and dates, as space permits, to the Subject Line. Many of us receive dozens if not hundreds of email messages each day and the Subject Line is a useful tool in reducing the amount of material that has to be read. Just a suggestion, Dennis
I don't understand what the difference is between a Roll Call and just posting or re-posting a query on ones ancestors. The James List hasn't been too active for the past few months. It's good to see some activity on the James list regardless of what it is called. In my opinion, it is always a good idea to re-post your information or any up-dates ever month or two. I am very fortunate, that I have many James cousins on this list that are working on the same James ancestors. Thank you,Michael Nelson, for re-posting our James information! At the age of three years (1866) she moved with her parents from MD to Ft. Wayne, (Allen Co.), Indiana. When she was 14 years old (1877) they moved by wagon to Nebraska, locating near Clarks (Merrick County, NE). Later they moved to Silver Creek (Merrick County, NE)." 1._____? James b. Katherine Amanda James b. 23 Dec. 1863 MD d. 1924 Merrick Co., NE (obituary lists birth: Havre de Grace, Harford Co., MD) (she would be my great grandmother) m. Hiram Marcus Dexter 3 Aug. 1882 (they gave birth to my dad's mother, Dorothy Dexter Gregg) I'm just not able to put my James family together. No doubt some of the JAMES children married and remained in the Fort Wayne, Allen Co., IN area. I've been told family visited Nebraska from Kansas, also. _______________________________________________________________ Joshua Jame's parents were "possibly" Joseph b. abt 1772 and Elizabeth b. abt 1779. "Possible" siblings of my great grandmother are: Harriett O. b. abt 1834, Mary A. b. abt 1835, Alice A. b. abt 1847, Elizabeth C. b. abt 1848, Joseph b. abt 1851, Ida b. abt 1860, and Hattie b. abt 1862. (Harriett O. and Mary A., could possibly be sisters of Joshua, I suppose...I realize some of the dates don't compute!) My GG grandfather, Joshua James, ran the first mill in Silver Creek, NE, and possibly ran one in Harlin, IN. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Hi Julia Boy, you are doing better than me. I have asked for any cops in Independence KS and find that there isn't a one belonging to the IPA. No Shoemaker or Fishburn (Wilma's mother's lines) relatives down there either. I ran Katie Phillips thru SSDI and had one match: Katie Phillips b(01 Jun 1881) d(May 1976 Linn MO) then I searched for last name Phillips in Linn and had three hits, Katie, another female with SSN issued in CA, and: John Phillips b(01 Sep 1909) d(11 Jun 1988 Linn MO) If you have them in correct order, that would leave a big gap between Katie and Martha1898, and Linn is 20 miles east of Jefferson City, a long way from Kansas City. You mention Lyda the "other missing daughter" but I note that there is nothing on Joseph or Parker either, or am I missing something? In any case, congratulations on getting that much. One more thing, I finally found the card for the Santa Ana cop I went to school with, Greg Machia, but now I can't find the name of the guy you wanted me to contact. Michael
I'm receiving AT LEAST 50 MESSAGE PER DAY on another list rollcall right now. This is fun for a time but it could get tiresome after a while. Some people could decide to drop out rather than deal with it .However, this James list is not the livliest one I know of anyhow. Boice Burns
I do agree that roll call can get out of hand, but it does need to be done occasionally. So since I suggested this one I ask that it go for a least a week. Thank you Rosemary [email protected]
