If it was seldom taught in great detail in Inverness why would you think it would be taught in Australia? Your grand question has been asked by many and so the schools in Scotland are teaching a lot less 1066 and lot more 1715 and 1745. ANYWAY, I have plenty of Scots ancestry and rather than bore you with heaps of family clatter I just wondered whether there was a list of family names available of the Scots involved in the uprisings. There are many, perhaps you would want to start with an over view of Highland and Scottish history for which I would recommend the History books by Sir Fitzroy MacLean. Plenty pictures to give you a sence of the area and good factual information. In particular I'm interested in the name McLoughlan (and also Cuthill) and whether they may have been involved in anything. I think my McLoughlans may have quick-tailed-it out of Scotland and fled to Ireland. If they did it was to help settle Ulster in most cases and you came be sure they left enough behind to secure their Scottish holdings. Is there a site I can go too, or could SKS point me in the right direction of Jacobite everything. Electric Scotland - A guide to over 200 Scottish clans, family's and tartans Scottish Midi Page The British Empire & Commonwealth Land Forces Land Forces of Britain, the Empire and Commonwealth Public Record Office Wars of Independence At the Edge archive: Celtic fallacy Ireland History in Maps - Celtic Ireland Clearances Gallery Clearances Links Electric Scotland's Scottish History - Culture, Battles, Literature and more Sc ottish Regiments: The Early History of the Black Watch Scotland History with Scottish photographs. Scottish Battle of Culloden The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada 93rd Sutherland Highland Regiment Living History Unit These may help you a wee bit to start off with.
