That is why the DNA is so important. It can really open doors to connections that you may not have thought of. Another site is www.smgf.org. This is the site we are using to figure out our Hicks side of the family. There is no fee involved; however, there are differences between the testing methods and results of all the testing organizations. We weren't sure if we could get anyone to donate their DNA, so felt safer using the no-fee test just in case we could not get a taker. Good luck and I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I know exactly how you feel because it is not the easiest thing to ask a person to give you his DNA. Print out the information from the website to help them understand better what you are trying to accomplish with the testing. This seems to make it a little easier.
