I am trying to track down family past 1830. My great great grandfather was born in South Carolina (Edgefield,Edgefield Co.in believe). He later moved to Alabama and then Georgia. His name was either James Edward (Georgia history has him listed as this) or John (census's in Alabama have him listed as this.) He married a Melinda or Mary, i think her last name is Findlay, Finlay or Finley. Her mother's name is Ann. Both his wife and Mother-in Law were born in South Carolina also.
