    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: gwenmotherhen Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.jackson/12941.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I too have been researching J. Jackson;s in the Alabama area. Many came from the Lee/Russell County area, the cities are Girard and Phonix( no "e" in Phonix, seperates it form the one in Arizona). I have found tha many of the men are John, James, and Joseph. They use them interchangabley , which really makes researching difficult. There are also a bunch of them to look through. I looked at the census you mentioned it could be an "M" or a "W". I would assume it is a "W" though because of the sons middle name being Westley. Many times the father's middle name is handed down to the first born son, the next son usually gets one of the Grandpa's, the third gets the other grandpa's. The same goes for the girls. They really weren't very original back then, so it makes finding them a little easier. If i come across anything in my search, i will let you know.
