Surnames: Jackson Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Xgk.2ACEB/7839 Message Board Post: Mrs. Margaret Jacqueline Jackson July 19, 1913 - December 19, 2000 Margaret Jacqueline Jackson was born in Flatonia, Texas, her mother’s family home on July 19, 1913 to Bennett Routh Adams, Sr. and Eulah Bunting John Adams. Following a few months in Flatonia, she and her mother joined her father in Montezuma, Georgia, where she lived until her mother preceded her to the Lord. At age 16, she went to live with aunts in Uvalde. She attended Baylor University and received a degree in English and Journalism. While at Baylor she joined several of her closest girlfriends to form a group known as the Green Alligators. These women remained close, lifelong friends meeting annually for over 66 years, and their association brought Jacque great comfort and joy throughout her life. After graduating from Baylor, she taught school in Corpus Christi, Hondo and Uvalde. In 1941, she married Luke Walford Jackson, MD. in Uvalde and moved to San Antonio to make her home, raising two sons. Walford died in 1966 and she returned to school at Our Lady of the! Lake and took a Masters degree in Library Science, also receiving certification as a Medical Librarian through work at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After a career of 20 years at San Antonio College Library, she retired. She is remembered as a warm hospitable woman who centered her life on her friends, church and family. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church for over 60 years, and of the Ever Faithful Sunday School Class. Cooking for friends was a favorite pastime as was spending time with her growing circle of family and friends. She leaves survivors, son Philip Walford Jackson, his wife, Susan Chapman Jackson and their three daughters, grandchildren Nielle Joy Chapman Jackson, Rylee Ann Walford Jackson and Shannon Shirey Houston, mother to great-grandchildren Daeja Houston and Kevin Houston, all of San Antonio, TX, Also surviving is son Bennett Edward Jackson and his wife Carol Mayton Jackson, of Austin, TX, grandchildren Jacqueline Jackson Waller an! d her husband Steven Waller, of Austin, Melanie Jackson Broward and hu sband Gordon Broward with their children, Tyler Broward and Madison Broward, of Dallas. Jacqueline and Melanie’s mother, Wilma Placker is also a beloved family member. She is also survived by her brother Bennett Adams and wife Frances of Cincinnati, OH, sister-in-law Edith Jackson Bagwell of Arvada, CO and cousin Lila Marshall of San Antonio, TX Mrs. Margaret Jacqueline Jackson July 19, 1913 - December 19, 2000 Services for Mrs. Margaret Jacqueline Jackson will be held, December 21, 2000, at 09:00 PM at the following locations: First Baptist Church 515 McCullough Avenue San Antonio, TX 78215 210.226.0363 Service will be in the WILSON CHAPEL.
