Their children were Eugenia, Isaac, Lafayette, Mary A and Martha (my gggrandmother). Family legend is that during the Revolutionary War, there were two Jackson boys, one not old enough to join the war. He ran away and joined Lafayette's forces. He was assigned to canteen duty and was affected by fumes of the liquor he served. When Gen. Lafayette noted the extreme youth of the boy, he look young Jackson on his personal staff. Out of gratitude, young Jackson said he would start a family tradition of naming the first son "Lafayette", which tradition was unbroken until 1886, when Isaac Lafayette Gamewell named his son Edwin Parker Francis.
