    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Jacksons in Middle Tennessee Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Xgk.2ACEB/6734.3.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Your post regarding the close relationship to Andrew Jackson and Stonewall Jackson has me "stonewalled". It's well documented that Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson" was the son of Jonathan and Judith "Julia" Beckwith Neal Jackson. Of this union there were four children - Elizabeth b. 1819 d. 1826; Warren J. b. 1821 d. at age of 19 in 1841; Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall b 1824 m. #1 Eleanor J. "Elinor" Junkin & #2 Mary Anna Morrison d. 1863 and Laura Ann b. 1826 m. Jonathan Arnold and d. 1911. At this point, I'm mainly interested in find the ancestors of my William Jackson - IF Andrew Jackson,Sr. comes about - so be it - IF not, I thrilled to have proven another generation when I find that "Unknown father" of Wm. If what you've found proves the connection - you've found a gold mine! Stonewall had three children - #1 Stillborn son by Elinor Junkin who d. 1854. The other two children were by Mary Anna Morrison: Mary Graham b. 1858 d. 1858 and Julia Laura b. 1862 d. 1889 and married William Edmund Christian. Col. Edward Jackson was the grandfather of Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson. Edward had two marriages #1 to Mary Haddan and #2 to Elizabeth Weatherholt Brake - of these two marriages he had 15 children: George Edward, David Edward, Jonathan (Stonewall's father) Rachel, Mary Hadden "Polly", Rebecca; Catherine "Katy", Cummins Edward, James Madison, Elizabeth "Eliza" John E., Margaret "Peggy" Return Meigs, Edward J. and Andrew M. Could the above mentioned "Andrew M.", 1/2 brother to Stonewall's father, Jonathan, be the Andrew you have found? Col Edward Jackson was the son of John and Elizabeth Cummins Jackson. The only tie to "Stonewall" Jackson and Andrew Jackson (Gen/Pres) would be if a brother to the above mentioned John Jackson be found, having son/grandson that included Andrew Jackson, Sr. - still that would not make a "direct" relationship. John & Elizabeth Cummins Jackson had eight children, none of which fathered Andrew Jackson, Sr. Their children: George, Col Edward, John, Jr., Elizabeth, Sophia, Mary Sarah, Samuel, and Henry. The VMI website previously given is an excellent regarding Stonewall Jackson's ancestry - The book "Colonel Edward Jackson 1759-1828 Revolutionary Soldier.....compiled by Nancy Ann Jackson, PHD and Linda Brake Meyers and Published by the authors by Genealogy Publishing Service of Franklin, NC is well documented on Col. Edward's family + info on John's family. It is known that Andrew Jackson, Sr. had three sons - Andrew being the youngest - Andrew, Sr. died shortly after the birth of Andrew - the two older boys died during the Amer. Revolution, taken prisoners by the British and died after their release from disease incurred during their captivity. Andrew's mother died shortly thereafter, from disease contact while taking care of prisoners of war at Charleston. As for proven descendants of Andrew Jackson being allowed to spend the night at The Hermitage - it could well be proven descendants of Rachel Donelson Jackson, Andrew's wife. To my knowledge, the grandfather of Andrew Jackson (Gen/Pres) has not been documented to date by The Hermitage researchers nor the White House researchers. If so, it'll sure be the best kept secret in genealogy. There are many theories, and my line is included within one of those theories. to wit: "William Jackson, brother of Andrew Jacskon, Sr. married Margaret Wilson, the daughter of Andrew Wilson. They had a son Andrew Jackson, cousin of Gen. A. Jackson" - pg. 678 Tennessee Cousins, A History of Tennessee People. + Old family "tales told" the grandfather of Thomas Jefferson Jackson was a cousin to Andrew Jackson (Gen/Pres) - Thomas Jefferson was the son of Andrew Jackson of Jackson Co., TN. This is my direct line which goes through Andrew Jackson being the proven son of William and Margaret Wils! on Jackson. Wm. d. 1792 in Guilford Co.,NC - Andrew, his son migrated to Jackson Co., TN after 1810, the same area (Middle TN) where Andrew Jackson (Gen/Pres) was buying speculative land. Who was William's father? - The BIG question: Did this "unknown father" of William have another son named Andrew, and then IF the above published statement is proven to be factual? - then next, did this "unknown father of Wm. & Andrew have a brother named John proven to be the same John Jackson who married Elizabeth Commins who were the grandparents of Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson?
