Searching for FATHER and/or descendants of David Jackson (1793-1848) of Overton Co., TN .... Partial BIBLE RECORDS OF THIS OVERTON COUNTY, TN FAMILY: David JACKSON b. Aug 1, 1793 d. 4 Day of Oct 1848 Overton Co., TN married Jane ..?... Sept 13 1818 Jane b. Feb 19, 1801 d. 13 Mar 1860 Winney Jackson b. Jan 19, 1820 Susannah C. Jackson b. June 8, 1822 Dolenson Jackson b. Feb 18, 1824 m. Elizabeth "E.J." Means Josiah C. Jackson b. Oct 5, 1825 m. Sarah Bilbery or Bilbry John M. b. Feb 25, 1830 Sarah S. Jackson b. Mar 6, 1833 Thomas H. Jackson b. Sept 7, 1835 m. Soloma R. Matthews Believe the FATHER of the above David Jackson MAY be a sibling of Andrew, William, Samuel, John, Joseph, George or Francis who migrated into Tennessee from North Carolina in the early 1800s, and were the sons of William Jackson of Guilford Co., NC in 1792. There was an older David Jackson also in 1820 census White County, TN........ ALSO searching for information of DAVID Jackson (b. 1755-1774 d...?..) anywhere from PA to NC), a proven (by Jackson Co., TN Chancery court records) son of William Jackson of Guilford co., NC - This David Jackson could possibly have also migrated into TN from NC - it is possible that the above David Jackson b. 1793 may be the son of this David (b. 1755-1774 d.?).................. BUT, it is also possible that this older David Jackson had a son David b. abt 1796 who migrated on into Paris, Lamar County, Texas, rather than the David (1793 of Overton Co., TN) The name David Jackson has shown up within the children of some of the sons of William Jackson. OR these two Davids may be the same person (census dates aren't cut in blood!) Overton County, TN is adjacent to Jackson County, TN where Andrew, William Samuel & possibly John first settled. The surname Bilbry is also found within Jackson County. Have Bible Records for William and Andrews' children, Joseph first settled in Sumner Co., TN Francis into Willaimson Co., TN and John into White/Putnam Co., TN when carved from Jackson County. The Will of William of Guilford, NC mentioned only three names: that of his wife, Margaret, his son Andrew and his son-in-law Joseph Summers. The above mentioned Andrew Jackson has been proven to be son of this William. Joseph Summers migrated into Sumner Co., TN with Joseph Jackson and the on into IL where Joseph & his wife Mary died - Joseph JACKSON returned to Sumner Co., TN where he died in 1844. DNA has been established on this Jackson line through 2 descendants of Andrew [my line], and another "on the burner" through probable descendant of John Jackson of White/Putnam County, TN (those results are not in as yet) Six North Carolina Land Grants & additional Deed Records of Guilford Co., NC place William and his family in this NC area by 1772, with Andrew Jackson and Joseph Jackson signing off as assisting the Official County Surveyor on two surveys. They were located right in the middle of the American Revolutionary Battle of Guilford Court House where excessively heavily casualties were encounted by both Amer. & British forces. The 1846-1853 Chancer Court Records have been instrumental in proving additional siblings of Andrew; the Bible Records have been instrumental in proving Children of Andrew and William; the Cherokee Applications made by grandchildren of William were instrumental in establishing that Andrew and William were brothers. We know of at least two-three unidentified daughters (still at home in 1790) of William who b. abt 1737 prob in PA, and Margaret Jackson of Guilford Co., NC, and probably older sons who were gone from home. Hopefully this post will bring in more information on this North Carolina family who migrated into NC from PA, MD and DE. Evyonne Andrews Eddins
