Please! If you guys do find out anything about that book, or come into possession of it, I want to know!! My 3rd Gr grandfather, William Jackson, shows up in the 1850 census in Butler County, AL. He was born 1798 and according to a later census of his son, he was born or FROM North Carolina. I Have been saving all of these similar Jackson postings JUST IN CASE. I was told just like so many of you may have been told, that we are a DISTANT cousin of Andrew Jackson, but just like one of the other postings said, it could be any Andrew Jackson. I have yet to validate any of that. I would just be happy to find out where William Jackson, b. 1798 in North Carolina, descends from!! Actually, I think a good number of us Jacksons' would like to be able to sort this mess out. I think that I might be related to Peter, etc. etc., but no proof yet The latest help I've been told was an author by the name of Evelyn Brandenberger that wrote a book about the Duke family of lower Va. that includes valuable information about the Jacksons'. Those of you who have a Jacksons from NC, I have the following children of William & Margaret Jackson - some proven, some highly probable, that I have no information on, other than some census records, some marriages, etc. that I do not have much on. William Jackson died in Guilford Co., NC in 1792 - Guilford County formed from Orange & Rowan [two of Wm.'s deeds were recorded in Rowan with land located in what became Guilford. Randolph & Rockingham formed from Guilford co., in 1779 & 1785 respectively - Some of his older sons could well be in Surry, Chatham, Burke, Caswell, Iredell or Stokes as well as Anson. At this time, the earliest I can place William & Margaret within the current Guilford Co., NC area in 1772 - oldest known child is dau Mary b. abt 1755 supposedly in Bucks Co., PA and married Jospeh Summers 2 Aug 1774 in Guilford Co., NC If you would like a copy of our Family Group WORKSHEET on William & Margaret Wilson Jackson, please send me your email address and I'll send you the attachment. Here are the following names I lack family information (1) George Jackson b. abt 1755 married 8 April 1772 Sarah Barker in Rockingham Co., NC (2) Joseph Jackson b. abt 1756 d. 1844 Sumner Co., TN - probable children George, Mary, William Joseph and James ++ (3) Samuel - b. 1775 - have him, know he had more children, but can't account for them - one dau probably married a male with surname of "Dean" - - Samuel m. Sarah Barker Rockingham Co., NC (4) Francis Jackson b. 1770-1780 Guilford Co., NC m. #2 Susanna Alley 14 Nov 1815 in Rockingham found in Williamson Co., TN 1820 (5) John Jacksonb. 1775-1777 prob. Guilford Co., NC in White co., TN by 1820 (6) David Jackson also in White Co., TN by 1820 (recently sent query to Jackson-L on him) Then............ I have one son of Andrew, son of William and Margaret Jackson of Guilford Co., NC that I can not account for - re his birth: you have three choices - Two of his sons Andrew who married Carline moved to Ark (can't find) and George W. "went to Miss. R." (can't find) so I don't know which date fits which one...dates: about 1804; btwn.1806-1820; and between 1811-1820. Let me know, and I'll be happy to share - the information is too massive for a post (abt 16 pgs. The attachment will be MSWord document abt 16 pgs. Most of these families settled in TN prior to going West - it seems they had kin in Ala for some grandchildren of Wm, Jr. moved that way. Suspect these boys could also have had siblings named; Benjamin, Thomas, Henry, James and Jonathan [these names show up quite a few times in Wm's children, as well as grandchildren, but have not found them. This entire family was good about naming their children about the same - it's great to spot such, but hard to put 'em together in the right place! Many, after migrating into TN some descendants went westward from Middle TN, some to the Western Dist, some to ARK, some to MO, some into Indian Territory, and some into Texas.
