Author: lizpendo Surnames: jackson, robertson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.jackson/13054/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am researching Jefferson Monroe Jackson and trying to figure out who was his father. His mother is Eliza Jane born Jan 18, 1820 in Alabama and died May 19, 1881 in Bradleyville. I am trying to figure out her relationship with Richard White Robertson, born Feb 23, 1807 probably in North Carolina and died June 14, 1887 in Bradleyville. They are burried together, with Richards wife Nancy on the other side. There was an accusation of adultery in the 1850's in Greene County. Were they bigamists? Eliza had several children starting with Martha L Jackson b1836 in Alabama. My theory (unconfirmed) is that Richard Robertson lived next door to Hiram Jackson in Jackson County Alabama and Eliza was one of Hiram's children. They then followed each other to Greene County Missouri in the 1840's and lived in Taney Missouri until their deaths. Other children are:James M b Feb 29, 1840 (Alabama)d Nov 19, 1880 and also burried in Bradleyville. Thomas b1842 (MO), Elizabeth b1845 (MO), Christopher Columbus b 1847 (MO), Jefferson M b 1849 (MO), William b 1851 (MO), Mary b 1853 (MO) and Samuel L b 1857 (MO). Another researcher seems to have confirmed that Samuel's father was Richard, so my guess is he fathered all the children. There is no husband in any census data, and she lives next door to Richard her entire life. Does anyone have any clues? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
