This is an extract of a letter sent by our grandfather, Alexander Jackson, to his daughter Mayce Jackson Sharum, on January 20,1917. "As to our people; Your great-great-grandfather Jackson came from England and settled in North Carolina in colonial days, about the close of the Revolutionary War. Your great-grandfather Churchwell Jackson, moved from North Carolina to Illinois. My impression is that the whole family made this move. There Churchwell Jackson met and married Miss Marguerite Coffell. Sometime after which they moved to Winchester, Tenn. of this union there was born G.W. Jackson, your grandfather, who was the older child, then James, Daniel, Preston,Lindsay, John-Henry, Criss, Wilson, Marguerite and Mary. There is more to the letter but this part relates to churchwell jackson some of the spelling is different then what I have found. For instance Coffell is Coffelt. G.W. Jackson is I assume is George Washington Jackson born in 1818. I am new to this, so I thought I would share this hoping to get some feedback.
