Author: KoOlone2835 Surnames: Jackson & Coffelt Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.jackson/14198.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Kathy is correct, Churchwell Jackson, Sr, was born in Orange Co., VA, in 1758, moved to Burke Co., NC, and served in the Rev. War while living there. Later he moved to Anderson Co., TN and then to Marion Co., TN, where he died in 1833. I do not believe he ever lived in IL, but some of his descendants moved there. Churchwell Jackson, Jr., was married to Mary Ann Coffelt. He was born about 1796 in NC and died in 1879 in Marion Co., TN. We have not been able to determine the wife of Churchwell, Sr. I would like to have a copy of the letter you mentioned if possible. Also I would like to exchange info with you and Kathy regarding your individual descendants. I descend from Wilson, son of Churchwell, Jr. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I, too, would like to have a copy of the letter you mentioned, if possible. Also would like to exchange info with both of you regarding your individual branches: my husband descends through Churchwell Jr's son Linza/Lindsey -- this is the branch that ended up in southern IL in Pope and Williamson counties. We are in Oregon but there are still Jackson family descendents in southern IL. I cannot help wondering whether Churchwell Jackson Sr. had more than one wife, which adds to the confusion. It was not unusual for a woman to die in childbirth back then. GIven the number of known children Churchwell Sr. had, I would not be surprised to learn that at least one of his wives had died in childbirth and that he had subsequently remarried.
