I think his father or brother was John Matthews who married Matilda Briggs, Jones Co GA in 1820. They made their way down to Alabama, then to Mississippi. Family tradition also says Matilda claim John Matthews was related to Andrew Jackson.?? John Matthews did fight in the war of 1812. Family tradition says that Andrew Jackson came thru GA and John left with him; to go fight. Has anyone found any Jackson/Matthews connection? or maybe Donaldson/Matthews connection? I think John Coffee married a sister to Rachael Donadlson, wife to Andrew Jackson. Any help would be appreciated!
