Maybe just neighbors. I believe this is the Harvey Howton b. 1825 in Hopkins, Kentucky, United States (married Mary Galloway b. 1829). Elizabeth Jackson's (1792-1847) granddaughter Elizabeth Louvina Ross (1836-1916) married James Henry Howton, Jr. (1829-1901). They are my 2nd great grandparents. Jackson Sr. I worked with him on all the geneaology and can advise on anything regarding our progress. Still stuck on knowing who Henry's father was (mother=Matilda Salyer, daughter of Isaiah/Mary, I think). Henry's father possibly a Larkin Jackson, though Matilda married another Larkin (Bishop) late in life, so this complicates. Would like to proceed to paternal grandparents of Henry. Have spoken to Kimberly, she has great research. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: whitel1968 Surnames: Jacksons in Dalton, Lancashire Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.jackson/12798.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have a public tree on ancestry.com titled My Jackson Gardner Family File. Don't believe this is the same Jackson, but my father, Joseph G. Jackson, was born in Dalton-in-Furness in 1920. I have quite a few of this line with sources and citations attached. I hit a brick wall with Peter Jackson, born Cockerham c. 1820, my gr gr grandfather (possibly 1817 according to records I found). He did not list his father on his marriage certificate, so I've had difficulty going back any farther than him on that side of the family, my paternal grandfather's side. Peter had a son, Thomas, b. 1853, but died 1854. However, there seems to be another John Jackson, b. c 1750 on my paternal grandmother's side, following line of parents of Henry Coward. I do most of my genealogy during summer months, as I am a teacher and have more time then. Feel free to browse it to see if anything connects to you. Looking for an Alice born c 1860 father John mother unknown. Forns what appears to be tham on the 1861 and 1871 Census and then the disappear from the followinf Census's. My Alice did come to Australia somehow, to far to swim, and was married in Adelaide on 26 Aptil 1881 to James Richards born c 1850 Othery Somerset. He is in Somerset census 1851 and 1861 and might be in Yorkshire 1871 as a boarder. Like Alice and her parents he also seems to had a long swim to South Australia. I have good records for James and his family and for Alice from the time of her marriage. The only clues she has left on documents to her Ancestry are found to date was on her marriage certificate naming her father John age 22 spinster putting a biorth at 1859 /- 1 and on her death certificate which adds a middle name Ann Oct 72 she was 72 born Yorkshire and had been in Australia 58 years. which put her 13/14 coming to Australia and born 1860 /- 1 Bob Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
