Author: gwenmotherhen Surnames: Jackson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.jackson/13018.14.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I just saw this post and was wondering if Thomas (1788-1850 ) or John C (1815-1896) had a son named James Edward. He was born about 1830, supposedly in Edgefield, SC. I don't have proof of that though. I just know that both of these names run down my family line and am looking for any new leads to James's ( my great, great grandfather) parents. Does the name JOHN LEONARD JACKSON sound familiar in any way to anyone? I can track them after that time period. My Jackson's are my brickwall. Any help anyone can give me is appreciated. I hadn't visited the DNA site for quite a long time. It is certainly moving along. I am interested in the ongoing Co. Meath line mentioned in connection with the Quaker line. Where was the original land grant for Thomas JACKSON b abt 1670? Was it near Old Castle, Co. Meath? Or do you mean the land grant in America? I am working on refining all the various JACKSON trees that I have been assembling. so hopefully the two approaches will complement one another - DNA and paper trail. I will email you off list about some other questions. Sharon Oddie Brown Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: odonj Surnames: Jackson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.jackson/14253.3.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: You all may be interested to know that a descendant of Thomas Jackson b 1670 Meath Ireland d 1727 PA, the immigrant mentioned in some messages in this thread, has done a Y-DNA test. He lives adjacent to the original land grant to Thomas Jackson and has a clear genealogy back to him. DNA testing is a convenient way to confirm relationship to this group. For more information see the Jackson surname project at Family Tree DNA: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Jackson/ . This man is in group L - Irish Quaker Jacksons which is about 1/3 the way down the Y-DNA Results Classic or Colorized pages with a green highlight. There are also members of this group who have tested Y-DNA at Ancestry.com and the Sorenson Molecular Genetics Foundation, so testing at any of these companies will enable you to find out if you match them. I spent the day updating the entries and links on the page I posted a few days ago including JACKSON wills in Ireland: http://www.thesilverbowl.com/documents/TABLES/JACKSON-Will-Probates.html In the next few days, I will also look at deeds work I have done to see if other relationships can be unpuzzled. I have also redone several of the JACKSON family trees that connect to these wills. Enjoy, Sharon Oddie Brown -- Sharon Oddie Brown, Roberts Creek, BC, Canada. History Project: www.thesilverbowl.com
