    3. Ervin Jackson born August 1827 or 1842 in Illinois, father from KY mother TN, and died 19 May 1918 in Florence, Williamson Co TX. He married FRANCIS1 V. JOHNSON Bef. 1871 in Robertson Co., TX, daughter of CALVIN2 JOHNSON and MARTHA1 PEYTON. My ggg-grandfather, Ervin Jackson, b.ca.1830,Ill. first settled in Robertson Co.TX in 1850's. He later lived in Brazos, Callahan, Val Verde, and Sutton Counties. His birthdate may have been 1837. Ervin met Frances Johnson in Robertson Co., TX and by 1871 they were married and had their daughter, Emma. Soon afterwards he moved to Buffalo Gap, just south of Abilene in Taylor County, TX. There he had a general store and raised hogs. This earned him the nickname of "Hog" Jackson. He and Johnnie Johnson worked together and also raised horses. By 1875 a new settlement, Belle Plaine, sprang up in Callahan County, east of Buffalo Gap and 6 miles south of Baird. The railroad appeared destined to go through Belle Plain and the town was booming. "Hog" moved there in 1875 and opened a boarding house and continued to raise hogs. Sometime after their arrival his wife, Frances, died in childbirth. The baby also died. Hog had promised Frances on her death bed that he would always take care of her mother, Martha Peyton Johnson Roberts Jackson, E. Confederate Infantry 12th Regiment, Texas Infantry (Young's) 12th Infantry Regiment [also called 8th Regiment] was organized and mustered in Confederate service at Waco, Texas, during the spring of 1862. Its members were recruited in the towns and cities of Clarksville, Cameron, Hempstead, Nacogdoches, Fairfield, and Waco, and the counties of Comanche, Milam, and Grimes. The regiment was assigned to O. Young's and Waul's Brigade, Trans-Mississippi Department, and saw action in Louisiana and Arkansas. After fighting at Jenkins' Ferry, it moved to Hempstead and disbanded in the spring of 1865. The field officers were Colonel Overton Young; Lieutenant Colonels William Clark, B.A. Philpott, and James W. Raine; and Major Erastus Smith He had a brother who lived in Florence,TX. I have a pension application that says he died in 1918 at the home of his sister-in-law Mrs. Buck Jackson, in Florence, TX. His brother was Andrew "Buck" Jackson m.. Cornelia Gilbert Coleman. He ran a commissary in Williamson County during the war for the Confederates. Angela John 3:16 Any Questions? --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Protect your identity with Yahoo! 3. Hello, I have just joined the list and so am listing my Jackson Connection. I am descended from Susannah Jackson b.1781 m. James Updegraff. James worked for Susannah's father, Samuel Jackson in his Jackson and Co. Iron Works based in Fayette Co., PA and Monongahela Co., West Virginia. Samuel Jackson moved to Brownsville, Fayette County, PA from Chester County where his grandfather, Ephraim settled after emigrating from Cheshire England. I have a copy of the new reprint of "The Jackson Family, A History of Ephraim Jackson, First Ancestor to come to America and his Descendants, 1694-1960" by Jesse Calvin Cross. Its nearly 400 pages and filled with a lot of good info. If anyone would like lookups please let me know. Paul Redden

    3. My Great grandmother's name was Otis Faye Jackson, b. 2 Jan 1899, d. 12 April 1991. She married Charles Jefferson Sanderson 17 March, 1922. He was born 5 Feb. 1898 and died 23 Aug. 1984 in Alabama. My Great Grandmother's parents were John Adams Jackson ( b. 14 June 1867, d. 15 Jan. 1930) and Hattie Mae Deramus (b. May 1871, d. 9 Nov. 1906) After Hattie passed away I believe John remarried Cleolia Rebecca Jones, and after her death he married again to Martha Elizabeth Sanderson. Sanderson is also my Great Grandfather's (Charles Sanderson) name, so I wonder if there is a connection there. My Great Grandmother (Otis') Grandparents were Andrew Johnson Jackson and Parthinia Kendall Jones. (I think) I am just beginning to research my Jackson family link, If anyone recognizes these names and can offer any more information, I greatly appreciate any input. Thanks, Michelle Frederick

    3. Am in the process of potentially ordering a Pedigree form handmade family quilt of my mother's Jackson/Lively line. In order to complete seven generations (beginning with my mother and her five sisters (only one now surviving and living in ALA with declining health - will be 90 next birthday) Want to take it to her for Easter - don't know if she'll make it to her birthday. Where a Pegree chart usually starts with only one name - the quilt will show all five sisters with b/d dates where applicable. William JACKSON - 1790 Guilford Co., NC census: 2-0-5 - - Will dated Oct 1792 gives wife, Margaret, son Andrew, and son-in-law Joseph SUMERS. This William had land next to ROSS whose son married one of William's daughters. Andrew married Nancy Bridges in 1795 (after the death of his father) and is shown within the 1800 census of Guilford Co., NC with 2 sons under 5 [John & Jonathan], Andrew and Nancy. Have Andrew covered with census enumerations 1820, 1830, 1840 in Jackson Co., TN and 1850 in Hardeman Co., TN where he died. Cannot find him in 1810, he could well have already been in Jackson Co., TN (1790, 1800 & 1810 enumerations of TN lost) OR he was on the migration trail and missed the census taker. NEED DOCUMENTATION ON (1) year of birth of William (2) surname of wife (3) b/d yrs of Margaret in order to complete the seven generation quilt. Don't have to have all three, but proof of Margaret's surname (marriage record) would be the top priority. I know I have a lot of work to do on William - have found where a William on muster roll for Revolutionary War service, and have already found a posting to where another William died in 1794 within Guilford County claiming this serice. Am going to have to dig deep to find out who is who. Want to get this quilt to my aunt before we lose her. She and my mom were extremely close and both were so very, very interested in the stories, info I have found on their parent's families. (Lost my mom in 2001 and so wanted to go further on the Jackson line, but had to stop because of her fast decline from 1998) Will freely share ALL information I have on my Jackson line to those who feel are connected - have DNA and Y-DNA Print results showing 75% Indo European; 25% Native American; 0% Asian and 0% African. Can anyone help me get this quilt completed for my Aunt Leta? It takes 3 months to have it made. I know this is a busy time of the year, but if anyone has the requested info already within their db, please, please take time to send me an email. BTW, if anyone would like additional info on the quilt, please contact me direct and I'll send you information as to varied patterns avail. Thanks in advance Evyonne Andrews Eddins Fort Worth,Texas evonandrews@sbcglobal.net

I am asking this as I am searching for the possibility you are responding to another post I have, which are many, at this time. I am searching for the McGuires who has been researched by Margie Crawford, who may have an ancester. If this is a coincidence, I accept it. I have just started researching my genealogy and am finding many people helpful, so far. I am not a member so I cannot get to the census, or other instruments to break the barriers. I am not asking someone to do my research, but I have made one break through. I have gotten many tips, I do have a library 32 miles away who has obtained many state census and cemetary records. Most are for local areas and a couple do come from Illinois. Again, thank you for your information. I will keep this in mind while I research her lineage for the McGuires.
