Does anyone on this list have an all male line connecting to the subject Colby Jackson? If so, would you be interested in participating in the Jackson DNA tests? Colby Jackson was born about 1765, in either NC or VA, and served in the Revolutionary War with NC units. About 1810 or so, he and his family moved to what is now Madison County, AL and he died there about the late 1820s. Robert Nicholson
I believe Thomas and Anthony were related. If I remember correctly, Thomas was either a descendant of either Anthony or his brother Richard. Anthony and Richard never came to America. It was their children. Don't quote me on this as I don't have any sources handy but I think the three Jackson Immigrants to early Chester County were Isaac, son of Anthony; Thomas, son of Richard (ancestors of President Andrew, and General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson and the third being my ancestor, the (probably unrelated) Ephraim Jackson whose ancestors are outlined in Cross's book which I already have copies available for $31 (420 pages) If your DNA was checked against that of Richard you probably are not descended from his brother Anthony either, Although infidelity back then was more common that people tend to think. My reprints are $10 plus 5 cents a page ( 7 cents for large print versions) and unfortunately I don't know how large many of the books are that I listed as I gave you all the information I have. It costs me $10 to borrow a book and takes me a good hour of work or more for each 100 pages to do the prep work assuming everything is OK. Of course it took me 6 months to write all of the computer software to allow me to do the work that fast (and thus inexpensively) It would cost any other company about $50,000 to duplicate the software. All my years as an engineer developing software for Army Attack Helicopter cockpits was finally put to good use :-) Just goes to show that sometimes, if you get laid off, its better to use what you've learned to make your own way and do what you love. I am not sure if GPC has the Myers book but I know Herritage Books does for $35.50 in paperback. Herritage Books reprints are similar to mine but, like GPC, use more of a medium level production run. They specialize in books that they feel confident they can sell several hundred copies of and thus spread the production costs among all of those books. They thus pay up front to have the pre production work done the conventional way and then print hundreds of copies at a time on an offset printing press and store them until they sell. My specialty is all the tens of thousands of books that may have only had 100 to 1000 books printed originally and reprint versions would be too expensive printed the conventional way. I do all the pre processing myself using my own techniques and software and print the books using the latest "Book-On-Demand" printing techinques so I don't have to buy so many copies at a time. The printing and binding acutally costs me about twice as much as there is more labor, but since the other costs are lower, and there are no inventory costs, I can keep the prices for the books down. Typically, even keeping prices low, I can break even with about 5 copies and anything more than that goes to buying more rare genealogy books to save and reprint. The Myers book is out of copyright so I can technically copy it. It is, however available elsewhere as it is a very popular and useful book. My price would come to between $34 and $35 which is only slightly lower than Heritage Books version. Technically there is not much of a difference as they are both about the same size and both paperbacks with a laminated cover. I am able to print 8 by 10 inch large print versions for a little more to cover the extra paper and ink though. Heritage Books process requires all copies to be the same. I have found some information on the Irish Jackson's in Myers book, it is close to what I had remembered. From the section on New Garden Monthly Meeting. [note, this is also the name of the meeting in Guilford, NC.] " Isaac Jackson and wife, received 9 Mo. 10, 1725, dated 1 Mo. [March] 28, 1725 from Carlow Montlyly Meeting, County Carlow, Ireland. Anthony Jackson, born at Eccleston, Parish of St. Michael, Lancashire, England, removed, in 1649, with his elder brother, Richard Kackson, sometime soldier in the Parliamentarhy Army, and settled at Lurgan, County Armagh, Ireland. Here they were among the first converts lto Quakerism in Ireland. In 1655 they removed to Cavan, where Anthony probably resided the remainder of his life. In 1670, and as late as 1681, he is mentioned in Besse as suffering persecution and imprisonment for non-payment of tithes [to the church of england that he didn't attend - Paul]. Isaac Jackson (1665-1750), son of Anthony, was married 2 Mo. 29, 1696 [April],at Oldcastle Mtg., Co. Meath, to Ann Evans, daughter of Rowland Evans, of Balliloing, Co. Wicklow. After residing for some years at Oldcastle and Clonerany, Co. Wexford, they removed, about 1706-7, to Ballytore, Co. Kildare. From here they removed to Pennsylvania, taking passage at Dublin on the Sizargh, and reached New Castle, on Delaware, 9 Mo. 11, 1725. They proceeded at once from New Castle to the home of a son-in-law, Jeremiah Starr, who had married a daughter, Rebecca Jackson, at Ballytore, 11 Mo. 10, 1716 and had settled in London Grove Twp., Chester Co. An extended record of the descendants of Isaac Jackson's ten children will be found in Halliday Jackson's "Jackson Family" and in History of Chester County, p. 610." I am assuming that he is talking about Futhey and Cope's "History of Chester County" which was published in 1881. Halliday Jackson's "Jackson Family" was published in 1878. With some further research I have found a copy of Halliday Jackson's book that I can make reprints of if anyone is interested. the full title is "Proceedings of the Sesqui-Centennial Gathering of the Descendants of Isacc [sic] and Ann Jackson at Harmony Grove, Chester County. Uh Oh! Now it's TWO Isaac Jacksons in the same spot! one son of Thoma and now one son of Anthony! Do know our DNA results were checked against those of earliest Richard Jackson - no match - Will have to go with Isaac or possibly Samuel, sons of Thomas (if that be out line). Paul - am very interested in reprints of some of the books you mentioned - will send separate email with more details. Thank you so much for your endeavors Paul - - Have ordered FTM's "The Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy, 1750-1930 (Hinshaw's six volume set) on CD - have already received confirmation of shipment - it has yet to arrive - probably caught up in Christmas mail. Next move is to order land survey map of Guilford County, NC, and call GPC and order Myers "Immigration of the Irish Quakers into Pennsylvania" [1902] - will also check with their sister company - Clearfield PC. - try to add to my library as I pick up new areas, and it's paid off with other lines. I heavily suspect that William may well be the son of Isaac or possibly a Samuel who may well be a brother to Isaac. Talk about being "intertwined" - your mention of Isaac and Mary Jackson moving to Eno, North Carolina in 1751 - checked out my "right hand" geographical site to find location of cities, counties, etc....: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form , and found that Eno, North Carolina is located in Orange County, Hillsborough District, North Carolina. Guilford County, NC was carved from Orange and Rowan Counties in 1770. I heavily suspect that the Jacksons living within Orange, Guilford, Rowan, and Randolph counties NC are fairly closely related in some way. If my "gut feeling" is right - betcha that if Samuel is brother to Isaac, they named their children with same given names........Looks like I'm going to have to get out my "stick 'ems" and "map 'em all out". Major problem in Guilford County, NC is that there was possibly another William Jackson living there who died about April of 1794 (two years after my William Jackson died. Within the 1800 census of Guilford Co., NC there were two Joseph Jacksons within the census with one living next door to my Andrew Jackson. Have already proven that Andrew had brothers: William, John and possibly Samuel with sisters: Omaha, and Mary. From the 1790 census William had 5 females within the household - one would be Andrew's wife, Nancy, William's wife, Margaret + 2-3 more females, one being probably Omaha - Mary was already married - so who were the other two? Within the 1820 census of Jackson County, TN, Andrew, William, John, and Samuel were all living next door to each other. There was a Samuel who also migrated to Hardeman County, TN where Andrew died in the late 1850s. Family given names for several generations from Andrew were: Andrew,William, James, John, Jonathan, Daniel, Benjamin, amongst others. Known sons of Andrew..... John, Jonathan, Richard, Andrew, Newell, George "Wash" Washington, Thomas, Singleton (all from Bible Records - could be more - still trying to separate Andrew's children from his grandchildren within the Bible Record) You've thrown me for a loop by your mention of marriage dates...i.e. "Katharine, b. 1 Mo. [March] 30, 1713, at Timahoe County, Kildare, Ireland; d. 4 Mo. 2, 1781; m. William Jackson, 9 mo. 9, 1733". Am "sorta" familiar with the Julian and Gregorian Calendars and switch from Julian to Gregorian calendar about 1st quarter 1500's, but your 1 Mo. [March], etc has thrown me - I knew January wasn't the first month, but didn't realize I was not one but two months off of today's standard. Am I interpreting it right? Again, thank you for your input, including the info within second message regarding the Wilson family - VERY HELPFUL! Evyonne Cowtown (Ft. In looking up Margaret Wilson in Myers book I find the following "Andrew Moore and Margaret Wilson, both of Dunclady Meeting," were married "att ye house of Katherine Henderson in Dunclady [ county Antrim] ye 27th day of ye 2 mo [ April], 1715 as by ye certificate ma appear." Minutes of Ulster Province Meeting, Ireland.) This Margaret apparently died in 1722 or 23 though, before Moore migrated to Pennsylvania. Ironically, many of her children married into the Jackson family ----- Original Message ----- From: "Evyonne Andrews Eddins" <evonandrews@sbcglobal.net> To: <JACKSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 8:54 AM Subject: [JACKSON] Re: William Jackson d. 1792 Guilford Co., NC > Within the Will of William Jackson dated 1 Oct 1792, probated Nov. Hi Evyonne, I can't find anything on William in the descendants of Ephraim Jackson who lived in London Grove in the early 1700's. The three Jackson families there were hoplesly intertwined though. I checked Myers "Immigration of the Irish Quakers into Pennsylvania" [1902] Suprisingly it didn't have much on the two Jackson families whos families had settled in Ireland for a generation of two before coming to Pennsylvania. There was a mention of a William Jackson in Londongrove about the right time frame though: "Children of James and Catharine Miller: ... .. 4. Mary, m. Isaac Jackson (son of Thomas), 4 Mo. 11, 1730, and had seven children; they moved to Eno, North Carolina, in 1751. 5. Katharine, b. 1 Mo. [March] 30, 1713, at Timahoe County, Kildare, Ireland; d. 4 Mo. 2, 1781; m. William Jackson, 9 mo. 9, 1733. .. 7. Hannah, m. James Jackson, 8 Mo. 31, 1745. No Issue. .." Interesting enough this James Miller is believed to be the brother of John Miller who's daughter Susannah married Ephraim Jackson's son Joseph (my ancestor). Three of Susannah (Miller) Jackson's daughters married Jackson's from the Irish families. Mary married James Jackson, the son of William and Katherine (Miller) Jackson above. Hannah married James brother Isaac and, ...believe it or not..., Susannah married John Jackson, the son of John and Sarah ([you guessed it] Miller) Jackson. As I said the three Jackson families were hopelessly intertwined in this period. Both books state the mariages, etc. were at the New Garden Monthly Meeting. Although New Garden was not indexed by Hinshaw, there is a book available (and searchable CD) covering many of these records. I haven't unpacked all of my genealogy CD's yet but the book is published by the Genealogical Publishing Company (GPC), and, with several others, is on their partner company, Family Tree Maker,s CD for Church Records of Pennsylvania. Sorry I don't remember the exact titles or CD numbers. GPC also publishes Hinshaw's encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy which is on a seperate CD from Family Tree Maker. Does anyone happen to know if the Guilford Co., NC Jackson families were related to the Jacksons that lived near Hillsborough, NC in present day Orange County? I am actually looking for a Frances Jackson who married John Holt around 1770 probably in Orange County, NC. They lived just south of Burlington, NC in what is now Alamance County. But there is a distinct possibility that the Jackson family I am trying to find is not related to any NC Jacksons since the Holt family knew a Jackson family when they both lived near present day Madison, VA. In NC, John and Frances Jackson Holt were living next-door to a Colby Jackson at the time of the 1790 census. In any event, John Holt and Frances Jackson Holt along with their children moved to Bedford County, TN in the early 1800s and John and Frances died there in the mid-1820s. I am writing in reference to my ancestors Susannah Jackson and Richard Henry Jones. It has been very difficult to track these people down, and would be grateful for any assistance. As far as I know Susannah Jackson was born in Launceston, Tasmania at approx. 1861 using dates from death records. She married Richard Henry Jones in 1879, Victoria, Australia. Susannah died 3 January 1934 at Kew, Vic. On Susannah's death certificate, it states that she resided in Victoria for 60 years, and in Tasmania for 13 years. I do not know as yet when Richard Henry Jones or Susannah came to Victoria, Australia. Richard Henry Jones was born in London in the 1850's to 1861. According to the microfiche records of Deaths in Victoria, his parents were Michael Jones and Margaret Oughton (Houghton or Haughton). Richard Henry Jones died in 1924 at Kew, Victoria. Richard and Susannah Jones had three children - Henry William (known as Harry) b.1887, Elsie may b. 1890 and Eva Esther b. 1895. Eva Esther Jones, my grandmother, was born in Brunswick, Victoria in 1895 . Eva Esther Jones married Henry Bracewell Cain in 1916. (I have some information from this point onwards.) Apparently, Richard worked in the newspaper industry,as a printer for The Age newspaper in Melbourne, Vic. The Jones and Jackson families are found on my mother's side of the family. My G-grandmothers name was Sular Jackson, married to Richard Murphy Williamson. She was born in 1887 in Oklahoma to Nathan or Nathanial Ancil or Ancel Jackson and wife Alice Cross. Nathan went by the name of Ancil in the 1920 ARK census. He was supposed to be 1/2 Cher, indian born in 1866 or 67 in Mississippi or Tenn. My father had a cousin in Arkansas that had letters from Pres. Andrew Jackson showing that they were related. I have been trying to find our indian line and also just how we are related to Pres Andrew Jackson. I was also told that like you we are related to Stonewall, etc. etc. If you can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I also have another Jackson in my line. My GGG-grandmother Rebecca C Jackson born 1820 or 22 in SC or Georgia. She was married to Andrew (Andy) Scott Williamson. I know nothing of her paren! ts or siblings or if she may be related to the late Pres or not. Wish I did. Shelly in WA

They were married 11-10-1844. They had 3 children-- William Henry or William Clay dob: 12-19-1845, dod: 12-10-1921, Berry A dob: 1847 and Armita Elizabeth dob: 1858. I know most of the line from William down but none of his siblings. Does anyone have any info of the line before Andy and Rebecca. I don't know where they orig. come from but I do know that my grandfather Henry Albert Williamson dob: 08-27-1906 dod: 05-28-1987 was from the Oklahoma Arkansas area. Andy was Henery's great-grandfather. Any info would be appreciated.
