They are my grandparents, but I have not seen them since I was 6. My father, Vibert Keith Jackson died in 1983 and my mom's family refuses to talk about the Jackson's. Vibert is an extremely unusual name and you would think that it would come up rather easily but all I can find is my father's SSN. I don't even know how he died and like I said, the topic is extremely taboo. If anyone can help I will be eternally grateful. Thanks!

Dear Sir or Madam: I am doing research on the family of my 82-year-old mother, Ruth Louise Jackson Sinclair (Mrs. John P. Green) of Waltham, Massachusetts. She now lives in Somers Point, New Jersey. Her great-great-grandfather (in her mother's father's father's family) was Moses Jackson of Canterbury, New Hampshire. He was born in 1789 in Newry, Maine. On February 14, 1811 he married Miss Lovica (Lovisa or Louisa) Clemmons in Gilead, Maine. He was arrested on May 20, 1815 in Norridgewock, Maine on the charge that he had in his possession counterfeit bank notes and that he knew they were counterfeit. Moses Jackson entered the state prison in Charlestown, Massachusetts on June 26, 1815. He was released from this prison on October 18, 1818. We do not know when he died or where he died. There is a tradition in my mother's family that Moses Jackson went on a sailing ship from Boston, Massachusetts to Matanzas, Cuba. We do not know if this story is true or not. He would have done so between October 18, 1818 and the end of 1820. His wife Lovisa (Louisa) Jackson is listed as Widow Lovisa Jackson with two young sons living in Shelburne, New Hampshire in the 1820 U.S. Census. Moses Jackson and his parents, Joseph Jackson and Mercy Jackson, lived in Shelburne in 1806 or 1807. Does anyone know when Moses Jackson died and where he died? If so, would you please let me know? My family and I would really like to know if he went to Cuba. My mother is the only one of her brothers and sisters still living. She would like to learn as much as possible about her family. Thank you very much for your kind assistance with our genealogical research. Sincerely, Susan M. Grady

Jerry: THINK I may be able to help you - one of two ways - (1) In working on my Jackson line coming out of Hardeman County,TN, my Thomas Jefferson Jackson has been proven to be the son of John Jackson. In trying to find information on all of John's children, I have been successful in located information on all EXCEPT John's son, Benjamin b. about 1834 - he just flat disappeared (I'm not worred about the difference in Ben's Hardeman Co. est. census birth year of 1834 as compared to your est birth year of 1836 - they're too close - learned many moons ago if you can come within 5 years on census data - you serious should check it out thoroughly). What also caught my eye iwas his marriage to Artamissa Hendrix in Lamar County,Texas - - When my some of the sons & dau. of my Thomas Jefferson Jackson migrated to Texas, they first stopped in Lamar & Hunt county, Texas. Some stayed there for awhile, most went on into Indian Territory with my great grandfather going on into Central Texas. Also, one of T.J's sons, Thomas Jefferson Jackson had a son to marry into a Hendrix family - - too much of a coincidence - don't you think? (2) Andrew who settled in Jackson Co., TN who migrated to Hardeman Co., TN with his son, John, in 1845 -had a brother named John who also first settled in Jackson Co., TN later found in White and Putnam Co., TN (county boundary changes) - Some of his children also came into the Hunt, Lamar County, TX region. I do not have third generation information of John Jackson of Jackson/White/Putnam Counties,TN - but hope to have isane in coming weeks. If you can come up with a direct male descendant of your Benjamin Jackson, and who still carries the JACKSON surname - a yDNA test will prove my suspicions that you may well be within this Jackson line, and possibly, the same long lost Benjamin, son of John & Sarah Jackson, and brother to my Thomas Jefferson Jackson. By separate email, I am sending you information that has been proven or searching for documentation on marriages, etc. on William Jackson of Guilford, NC. This research is being compiled by a dedicated group of decendants of William Jackson of NC, which includes the above mentioned Andrew Jackson who migrated from NC to TN probably prior to 1810. 1800 & 1810 census of TN lost. I have him covered from 1790 through 1850 with exception of the 1810 census enumerations. Let's keep our fingers crossed - Look for the next email later this evening with MS Word attachment - I'm protected with Norton on incoming and outgoing mail, so you shouldn't have any problems with it. Maybe this angle would be easier. If you find someone that could be his parents age then you could look for them in the 1880 census. Although there is a chance that they were left out of the 1880 census. They may have been moving around. When and where did he died? Have you looked for his will? How about real estate records for him or other Jacksons' living in the same area? I found a mother for one of g,g,g,grandparents in the real estate records. It happened to be her property, but it gave her sons name. Are you where you can actually go to the courthouse to research these records? I try to never leave a stone unturned and I always do better when I can go to the source.

If they were married in 1898 most likely by the time of their death there should have been a death certificate. If you don't know where they were living try the Social Security Death Index. Sometimes it will give you the date of birth (mo, day, yr) and the date of death (mo, day, yr), but not always. It will give the state of death. Once you get a date you can search the obituary notices to confirm you have the right person. Good luck.
