Looking for information on my direct JACKSON line.migrating from AL around 1848-49. They settled in Robertson County, TX.. EDWARD JACKSON is found on 1860 census in Robertson County in or near Bald Prarie with his wife SARAH KENNON JACKSON & their children, one CAROLINE JACKSON, my Great-Grandmother. She married a JOHN WOODS in robertson county around 1867-70. Only contact I have had with this line is a JAMES JACKSON b Robertson County, TX. in 1905, but removed to Tarrant County, TX after 1920, who was in contact with my Mother, now deceased around 1979-1980. Recently found a letter & some research in her belongs. It showed my line going from VA to Wake County, NC to AL, then to TX Anyone familiar with this JACKSON line or any descendants I would like to pursue this research beyond 1870. Thank You in advance for any assistance, Richard in Carolina

Thanks, I have pretty much decided to go with Ancestry. They have a package deal for $269.85 a year and claim that I can access all their web sites. I tried them a couple years ago and was disgusted with them because everything I tried to do, they wanted more money. My Jacksons: William Henry Jackson b. 1803 in PA, married 6 June 1824 in Marion Co., Indiana to Margaret McCurdy. Two children, 1. James Jackson, wife Rosie ? and their children Margaret E. Jackson MORRISON, Mary F. Jackson MAYO, Alonzo Jackson, Henry "Hank" Jackson, James H. Jackson, Marion R. Jackson, Albert E. Jackson. No birthdates on children. 2. Mary Jackson b. 31 March 1828 in Marion Co., Indiana married Joseph Beaver Karstetter 21 June 1846 in Fulton, Indiana. (8 Karstetter children) William Henry Jackson b. 1803 second wife (my grandmother) was Nancy Ann Moore and they had two children, William Henry Jackson 2nd (my grandfather) and John Jackson that never married. The McCurdy descendants have William Henry Jackson 1st listed as parents Jackson & Fishback. I found my info in my grandmother's diary. Interesting story about William Henry Jackson's people being killed by Indians in the battle of Lake Erie in 1812, while he was out delivering water to Hay Hands. Would love to hear from anyone that recognizes any of these names. Lorene Strano
I am thinking about signing up for either Ancestry.com or Genealogy.com Any comments as to the best of the two. Lorene
I can highly recommend Ancestry.com (way before Rootsweb went in with them) - - have been a member for years - once you become acquainted with all that they have available, and all of the "how-to" - you'll love it - - additional databases are available should you want to subscribe to those - if you're just starting or still "stateside" the regular membership should suffice until you feel your way through - plus they have a wonderful magazine you'll enjoy - keeps you up to date! I am assisting my 82-year-old mother to do research on her family. Her name is Ruth Louise Jackson Sinclair (Mrs. John P. Green) of Waltham, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. She now lives in southern New Jersey. My mother's grandmother (her mother's mother) was Flora Conner (Mrs. Edward Cross Jackson). Flora Conner Jackson was born in Leiwston, Maine, but she and her husband are buried in Waltham, Massachusetts. Flora Conner's younger sister, Inez Conner, married Atwood Joseph Jackson of Jefferson, Maine. Inez and Atwood Jackson are buried in Jefferson. Recently we learned that Atwood Jackson is descended from Samuel Jackson. He was born September 6, 1754 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and died November 3, 1826 in Jefferson, Maine. He was called Captain Jackson because he served in the Continental Army in the Revolutionary War. He had an older brother Joseph Jackson who was born about May 11, 1752 in Durham, New Hampshire and died June 19, 1831 in Jefferson, Maine. These two brothers went from New Hampshire to Newcastle, Maine and in 1778 they moved to Jefferson, Maine. Samuel Jackson and Joseph Jackson had a brother Isaac Jackson who was born in New Hampshire and stayed in New Hampshire. If anyone has information about these three Jackson brothers, I would appreciate it very much if they would contact me. My mother and I would especially like to know who the parents of Samuel, Joseph, and Isaac Jackson were. My mother is the only one of her brothers and sisters still living. She would like to learn as much as possible about her Jackson family. Thank you for your kind assistance with our genealogical research. Sincerely, Susan M. I am doing research on the family of my 82-year-old mother, Ruth Louise Jackson Sinclair (Mrs. John P. Green) of Waltham, Massachusetts. She now lives in southern New Jersey. Her great-grandfather was Willard Cross Jackson. He was born in 1810 in Gorham, New Hampshire and died in 1876 in San Jose, California. We would very much like to correspond with the descendants of Willard C. Jackson's brother, Moses Jackson, Jr. Moses Jackson, Jr. was born October 23, 1813 in Gorham, New Hampshire and died Decvember 4, 1887 in Bradley, Maine. On December 18, 1838 Moses Jackson, Jr. married Elizabeth A. Johnson in Bradley. Elizabeth Johnson Jackson died in 1880 in Bradley. Moses and Elizabeth Jackson are buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Bradley. At the time of his death Moses Jackson, Jr. had the following children: (1) Lizzie Jackson (Mrs. Buxton) of Cumberland, Maine (2) Lovica J. Jackson (Mrs. Frank Gray) of Lynn, Massa- chusetts (3) Moses Jackson born 1848 Bradley, Maine; died October 7, 1900 Bradley He was a farmer and a lumberman. (4) William A. Jackson born 1850 Bradley, Maine; died October 13, 1907 Bradley (5) Joseph L. Jackson born 1854 Bradley, Maine; died August 14, 1923 Bradley Recently my mother and I learned that Moses Jackson, Sr., the father of Moses Jackson, Jr.and Willard Cross Jackson, was arrested in Norridgewock, Maine in May 1815 for possession of counterfeit bank notes that he knew to be counterfeit and that he planned to put into circulation. Moses Jakcson, Sr. was born in 1789 in Newry, Maine and was married to Lovica (or Lovisa) Clemmons. In June 1815 Moses Jackson, Sr. entered the State Prison in Charlestown, Massachusetts because Maine was still a part of Massachusetts. He was supposed to serve a life sentence, but he was pardoned by the governor of Massachusetts on October 18, 1818 and Moses Jackson, Sr. left the prison. Moses Jackson, Sr. supposedly then went on a sailing ship from Boston, Massachusetts to Matanzas, Cuba. In Cuba he is supposed to have married, had children and died. My mother and I would very much like to know if this story about Moses Jackson, Sr. is true. We cannot find that he died in the United States. His wife, Lovisa Jackson, was listed as a widow living with two young sons in Shelburne, New Hampshire (next to Gorham) in the 1820 United States Census. The only one of her brothers and sisters still living, my mother would like to learn as much as possible about her Jackson family. Thank you for your kind assistance with our genealogical research.
