Following a few months in Flatonia, she and her mother joined her father in Montezuma, Georgia, where she lived until her mother preceded her to the Lord. At age 16, she went to live with aunts in Uvalde. She attended Baylor University and received a degree in English and Journalism. While at Baylor she joined several of her closest girlfriends to form a group known as the Green Alligators. These women remained close, lifelong friends meeting annually for over 66 years, and their association brought Jacque great comfort and joy throughout her life. After graduating from Baylor, she taught school in Corpus Christi, Hondo and Uvalde. In 1941, she married Luke Walford Jackson, MD. in Uvalde and moved to San Antonio to make her home, raising two sons. Walford died in 1966 and she returned to school at Our Lady of the! Lake and took a Masters degree in Library Science, also receiving certification as a Medical Librarian through work at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After a career of 20 years at San Antonio College Library, she retired. She is remembered as a warm hospitable woman who centered her life on her friends, church and family. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church for over 60 years, and of the Ever Faithful Sunday School Class. Cooking for friends was a favorite pastime as was spending time with her growing circle of family and friends. I estimate his birth at about 1831-1832 in Georgia, though some later information implies North Carolina. I can't identify his parents, nor can I determine the exact time and place of his death, though I know that he was in Alabama in 1855 and 1860 and that the direct line from which I descend remained here. So while the names of Thomas and Priscilla aren't known to me, I'm interested in William -- and then they could become of interest.
