Do you know the names of any of the other siblings, or where they might have moved to? I am trying to trace my ggrandfather, a Thomas Jackson from WV or VA, who would have been born 1810-1830 or so. The reason your listing caught my eye was that given names often repeat in families, and both Stephen and Sallie are common in mine. Thanks, Stephanie Trasoff
David/Davis Jackson shows up in White County,TN within the 1830 census enumeration: 01110001-01010001 1 son 5-9 1 son 10-14 1 son 14-19 HH 50-59 1 dau 5-9 1 dau 15-19 1 female (wife) 50-59 Is this David/Davis Jackson the same individual who shows up within the 1810 census Amelia County VA as age 45+ (age would have been given wrong someplace if he's this one) OR the David/Davis Jacskon who shows up in the 1820 census Lewis County, VA census 45+ From Chancery Court Records in Jackson County, TN (White County carved from Jackson Cty., TN), a David Jackson gave testimony and was identified as brother to Omaha (Naomi) Jackson as well as John and Andrew Jackson. Omaha Jackson b. 1783, John b. 1778 and Andrew b. 1764 are proven children of William Jackson who died in 1792 in Guilford Co., TN This line goes back to Chester, Bucks, Lancaster Pennsylvania - any suggestions, clues on the White County, TN David is sincerely appreciated. Based on his age in the 1860 census in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, I estimate his birth in about 1832. That census says he was born in Georgia, though entries for his daughters in 1880 say their father was born in South Carolina. I don't have any middle initial or parentage information for William. I do know that his wife, my GGG Grandmother, was Julia Ann. Strong evidence suggests that she was Julia Ann Smith and that they married in Meriwether County, Georgia, on 18 Nov 1851. I've found a Smith family in that area in 1850 that could be hers, but I've had no luck so far at coming across any Jacksons that could be his family -- in Georgia or Alabama. I'm also unable to determine just when he died. Julia is a widow in the 1870 census, supported by adult daughters in 1880, and disappears thereafter. I'm hopeful that someday I'll be able to discover when William died (and maybe why -- did he serve in the Civil War?) and where the two of them are buried. In the meantime, I still search when I can. I doubt it's much help to you, though, is it? :-) Happy hunting -- and good luck. = Steve =
