    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Jackson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Xgk.2ACEB/7930 Message Board Post: For several years I have been looking for information on the parents of Andrew Joseph Jackson. Andrew was born in 1857 in Texas and died in 1919 in Hastings, Oklahoma. In 1870, Andrew can be found in the census for Van Zandt County, Texas with his parents, William J. Jackson (born in Illinois) and Nancy Jackson (born in Tennessee). Also listed is a brother, Thomas J. Jackson (born about 1850 in Illinois) and a sister, Clarinda (born in Illinois around 1852. In the 1880 Census for Collin County, Texas, I can find Andrew with his mother, Nancy who is, by then, a widow. I don't know what happened to William. In the 1850 census for Collin County, Texas, I can find William J. Jackson (born in Illinois) with a wife, Julia A. Jackson (born in Illinois), and a son, Thomas J. Jackson (born in Illinois). My thinking is that William J. Jackson was married to Julia and had children Thomas and Clarinda and then Julia may have died. William remarried Nancy and they had Andrew. This is all conjecture on my part and I am looking for anyone who might be able to help me prove or disprove my theory and at the same time help me further identify Andrew's mother, Nancy.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Xgk.2ACEB/7929 Message Board Post: Hi, I'm researching African-American families with the JACKSON surname from Conecuh Township in COVINGTON County, Andalusia, Alabama. My gg-grandparents, William E. "Bill" JACKSON b. abt.1859, mulatto, birthplace Alabama, his wife Ella Hewlett- JACKSON b. abt.1858, mulatto, birthplace Alabama. William E. JACKSON mother name was Nancy b. abt.1845, possibly a slave of Hugh Blount. His stepfather was Nelson (Feagin) Jackson, possibly a slave of Samuel FEAGIN, my family used the FEAGIN surname and later adopted the JACKSON surname after the Civil War. William had two brothers, Jerry JACKSON, born 1861 and Joe (Joseph JACKSON b 1866). Both, William and Ella probably died in the late 1930s; their burial place is at the Florala Baptist Church Cemetery. The following is a listing of William and Ella Jackson’s children, with their spouses: 1. Viola Jackson (m Cawthorn Robinson) 2. Jerry R. Jackson (m Annie Hewlett) 3. Millie Jackson (m1 name unknown) (m2 (first name not known) Wood) and (m3 Henry McBryde) 4. Alice Jackson (m Isaac Daniels) 5. Willie Jackson (died young) 6. Ella Jackson (m Zachariah Lewis) 7. Lindsee Jackson (m George Cameron) 8. Jeppie Jackson (m Mrs. Nannie Bradley) 9. Pinkie Jackson (descents found) 10. William Jackson (died young) 11. Johnnie D. Jackson (m Rosie M. Hart) The book ©¯Black Folks From Pea Ridge In Covington County, Alabama©˜ by Wyley Donald Ward, features my family and other families from Covington County, Alabama. It appears many of their descendents may live in Florida and Ohio. If you descend from these families or have information, please e-mail me. I am more than happy to share the information that I have. Thank you, Sharon Daniels

    1. Cora (Jackson) Vinson murdered physican husband W.D. Vinson in GA abt 1920
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Vinson, O'Shields, Jackson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Xgk.2ACEB/7925 Message Board Post: I am seeking more information about a murder in Georgia. Mrs. Cora Lou Vinson was serving a life sentence for shooting and killing her husband, Dr. W.D. Vinson around 1920. I found one article about this in "The Constitution" Atlanta, Georgia on Novemeber 4, 1924 that was titled "Woman Lifer Here for Trial" where a photo of her with her daughter, Mrs. Ethelyn Robertson is with her in the photo. She was in Atlanta that day to bring suit against another daughter, Mrs. Pauline Brown, who was accused of mismanaging Cora's property she inheirited from her murdered husband. It appears that Cora had served two years of her sentence at this time in 1924. Another article, same newspaper, dated Nov. 3, 1924 states that she was first sentenced to hanging but in Oct. 1922 she was granted a second trail and was given a life sentence. I found her in the 1930 U.S. Census for Baldwin Co., GA as a 52 year old prisoner at the Georgia State Penitentiary at Brown's Crossing in the 319th Militia! District of Baldwin Co. I have searched the 1920 and 1910 census for both Cora and W.D. and so far nothing. If anyone has any information or suggestions on where I might look, feel free to contact me on this list. I am trying to connect her to who I believe is her sister, Virginia (Jackson) O'Shields deceased, of Atlanta, GA. Thanks in advance.
