I have been off the list for about 2 years, so I'll try posting my info again and see if anyone recognizes this family: Benjamin JACKSON b: c 1790 - 1800 (according to census)? d: 1847 Washington County, MO m: Unknown (but "possibly" a SEABOURNE or EVANS both with various spellings) Children: 1. Martha Jane JACKSON b: Jul 26, 1828, in TN m: George Washington STROUP 2. William Andrew JACKSON b: Aug 09, 1830 (?) in TN m: #1 Pa(u)line Elizabeth HARRISON #2 Narcissus Ann WILEY #3 Belle OLIVE 3. James Monroe JACKSON b: Aug 31, 1832, in TN m: #1 Susan STROUP (Father: John) #2 Jane L. Mathews 4. Melvina D. JACKSON b: c 1834 in MO m: Samuel WASHBURN 5. Emily D. JACKSON b: c 1837 in MO m: Jacob G. WILSON 6. George Washington JACKSON b: Jan 06, 1839 in MO m: Livonia Deborah WHITE 7. Lucinda E. JACKSON b: c 1841 in MO m: John H. BUTLER The only Benjamin JACKSON I can find in the 1830 census with a girl under 5 is in Morgan County, TN. Benjamin and "Mrs" JACKSON died before Oct 1847, in Washington County, MO and James Monroe SEABOURNE (SAYBORN) is the Administrator of his probate and in 1852 is given guardianship of 4 of the JACKSON children. In the 1850 Washington County census, all the JACKSON children are shown living with Lucinda EVANS age 66, b: VA. Lucinda EVANS is James Monroe SEABOURNE's Mother. In a letter from a SEABOURNE lady written in c 1957, she says James Monroe SEABOURNE is the Administrator of "his brother in law or half brother in law's probate." Does anyone know anything of this Benjamin JACKSON family? I descend from George Washington and Livonia (WHITE) JACKSON. Thanks much marykell

I am NOT actively researching the Larkin JACKSON family. However, I don't know who Jarret's wife was. Missouri died back before the family came to Texas. One of her daughters, Ann Savannah, also died there. Another daughter, Georgia, had already died when they left for Texas or she did not come. The Jacksons came to Texas about 1890 and settled at Gonzales County originally. Braddock and Avie and some family had already come to Texas and were at Freestone County when they died. There is a book "The Story Uncle Minyard Told." written by Davis Blake Carter. Uncle Minyard was the youngest of Braddock and Avey's children. He tells the Harriss story as they started out in Virgina, went to NC then to SC, then to Alabama and then on to Texas. It is told in story book fashion but it gives details of the Harriss families trek across the South. It was written by Davis Blake Carter who was on the staff of the Univ of Texas. I managed to get a copy from Amazon.Com and I had a housefire. ! The book wasn't damaged but it was on the floor in the apartment I was staying at temporarily and got damaged when a water pipe broke behind the wall. It is still readable but not too pretty. All of Isaac's & Missouri's children were born in Alabama, Francis Marion(Poss)born June 15, 1851, died Gonzales County Texas September 13, 1919. He never married Ann Savannah born September 2, 1853 died before 1880 in Alabama Georgia A born April 15, 1856 Zachariah Berry born June 25, 1859 died February 29, 1935 in Floresville, Wilson County, Texas He had 3 marriages, was widowed twice. His first two wives were sisters. He had children by all 3 marriages and one, the last I heard, is still living. Mary Isabel (Mammie) born December 26,1860 died in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas March 7, 1936. She had been married to a Riddick in Alabama but was married to John Francis Roberts when they came to Texas. Some of their children were born in Alabama and some in Gonzales County. Roxie Catherine Jackson(my great grandmother) married John Clark(e) Tomlin 1879 in Alabama and had one child, my grandfather, Roy Laitten Tomlin born June 29, 1881. John Clark(e) Tomlin died when Roy was a small boy and Roxie married R. Conner in Macon County, Alabama in 1888. She had 2 children by Conner, Zelmon Walter and Savannah. Henery Delilah (Dollie was born August 5, 1866. She married Nathan POwell Roberts. I don't believe she had any children. Missouri T. Hickerson Jackson born February 12, 1869 died February 11, 1943 in San Antonio, She never married. They called her Aunt T. I have been told they are not sure if the T stood for Texas or Tennessee. Georgia also married a Roberts. My grandfather, Roy Tomlin, was one of 6 men to die from an oil refinery explosion at Magnolia Refinery(now Exxon Mobil) in Beaumont in 1920. My father was only 13 at the time. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. She lived in West Virginia until others in her family moved westward. Her husband had deserted her with three or four children. She lived with Thomas and Mary Spencer in Polk County, Iowa in 1860. (Mary Spencer was Rachel's mother and Thomas Spencer a second marriage for her mother, Mary.) I found her still living with another Spencer family in Taney County, Mo in 1870, with children Mary 15 and Harry 21 (not sure about Harry being one of her children). Her other two sons were William (born 1844) and Daniel (born 1852). The oldest, William, was born in Virginia and the other two were born in Ohio, possibly Columbiana County, Ohio. I may have found (but not sure) Rachel Jackson living in Grape Grove, Missouri in the 1880 census. She was boarding with A. J. Lozier and kept house and was 57 years old. I have no other informtion on any of the above (William Jackson, Daniel Jackson or Mary Jackson) and would ! appreciate knowing if this rings any "bells" with any Jackson researchers? Many thanks.
