Here is what I do have. Sarah Ann(Hutchins)Anglin is my ggggrandmother. Edmond R.(born 1812)and Mary Hutchins were her parents and they lived in Leake and Scott Counties Mississippi in the 1850 and 1860 census for that area. They were married in Mississippi in 1836. The parents of Edmond R Hutchins were John Hutchins and Sarah(Sally)Irby Jackson. I had a feeling that Irby was probably a surname and looked and there it was. If you have info to share to fill in the blanks i would greatly appreciate it. Feel free to email me direct. I found these clues at familysearch.org with some help from the message boards. 's daughter mahala had 7 children out of wedlock and the father's name is a toss up between a couple of stories floating around the family, therefore, all of her children were given her name instead of that of their father. e-mail me at [email protected], we will compare notes a little more and see if we can figure anything out Latresha Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. His name was Andrew W. Jackson born in York County, SC abt 1810-1815. His wife was Messina Adaline Cowan. In the 1850 census they had only been married about 1 year. I know all about her family but nothing about his. I just can't put it together. In 1860 census York Co SC he and his wife and children were listed and then the story went that they left in a covered wagon and went to Illinois ( not sure why--did they have relatives there or getting away from the war) they had one child in Illinois and then traveled by covered wagon floating down the mississippi river and then to Tippah County, Ms. He stated that his father was born in NC--and his mother in VA. I was always told he was related to Pres Andrew Jackson but of course without knowing who his parent where this is hard to prove. I am about to the theroy that he was orphaned also--could the Jackson you are looking for have been his brother. Jackie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Tressa25 Surnames: Jackson, Medley, Gamewell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.jackson/13093/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My stone wall is Marquis Jackson who married Martha Medley, daughter of Isaac Medley, in 1825 in Halifax Co., VA. Marriage record shows his name as "Markus". The family story is that one of the earlier, very young, Jackson boys served with Lafayette and was "overcome with the fumes of alcohol"while on canteen duty. When he saw the boy's young age, Lafayette took him under his wing and due to that kindness, the Jackson boy vowed that the first-born son of each generation would be named for Lafayette. Apparently this tradition continued until my grandfather, Isaac Lafayette Gamewell, decided he would not saddle his son with that name. Marquis and Martha Jackson had a daughter, Martha, who married Francis Asbury (Frank) Gamewell. My 90-year-old aunt who has been researching for years, has not been able to go further back with this Jackson line. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Author: stockport001 Surnames: Jackson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.jackson/12799.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Emil I. Jackson (1920-1965), first son of Ingman H. Jackson // Emil I. Jackson, the eldest son of Ingman H. Jackson and his wife Emma, was born in 1920 in Minnesota. The 1920 census shows Ingman Jackson and his wife "Ema" living in Soler, Roseau County, Minnesota. The 1930 census, taken on April 22 locally, shows 10 year old Emil living in the Opheim school district in Valley County, Montana. Ingman (38) and Emma (27) had been married for about 11 years. Both were literate and spoke English. According to the census, Emil had three younger sisters and a younger brother: Genevive E. Jackson (8), Manford J. Jackson (7), Jeanette A. Jackson (2), and Clarice A. Jackson (4 months). Jeanette was born in Montana, but the rest (including the youngest if we believe the census) were born in Minnesota. Ingman's parents were both born in Norway, according to the census, and Emma's parents were both born in Czechoslovakia. Ingman was a farmer, and the family lived on the farm. Before World War II, Emil worked on his father's farm. He enlisted as a Private in the Army Air Corps at Missoula, Montana, in Daniels County, on October 22, 1941. He'd had one year of high school and was single when he enlisted. His Army Serial Number is 19055319. Emil was 70" (5 ft. 10 in.) tall and 160 pounds when he enlisted. Emil served as a crew member on B-24s in the 7th Air Force in the Central Pacific. More details and possibly photos are available and can be provided. Records show that an Emil I. Jackson who was born in 1920 died on May 1, 1965, in Daniels County, Montana, where he resided. He was married or separated when he died.
