Author: dkikuchi Surnames: JACKEMEYER, KRAUSKOPF Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.jackemeyer/15/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Yes, I'm still looking for more! Does anyone know about the following people? Heinrich, from Allen Co., IN, applied for a US passport on 15 Apr 1867. Conrad and Charlotte emigrated in 1835 from Windheim. Friedrich Carl Jackemeyer, Sr. was born 11/6/1893 in Pittsburgh, PA. His wife was Mary, nee Holland, and they had at least 6 children: Irene, Fred, Robert, Mary E., Albert, and Theresa, maybe also Helen and James. Friedrich Carl, Sr. died in 1971. There are also Thomas Jackemeyer in Newburgh, ME and William A. Jackemeyer in Bealeton, VA. My cousin, Donna Krauskopf, remembers my Grandpa taking the train to Chicago to visit a relative. Does anyone have an idea who that could be? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Loved IT! Would very much like to do what this Grandma's doing! Just too many other things happening! ----- Original Message ----- From: Shelly Platz<mailto:shellyplatz@earthlink.net> To: JACKEMEYER-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:JACKEMEYER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 18, 2006 9:00 AM Subject: [JACKEMEYER] Fw: [AppalLife] Grandmas mighty busy......... this is cute Grandma Climbed The Family Tree There's been a change in Grandma, we've noticed as of late She's always reading history, or jotting down some date. She's tracing back the family, we all have pedigrees. Grandma's got a hobby, she's climbing Family Trees... Poor Grandpa does the cooking, and now, or so he states, He even has to wash the cups and the dinner plates. Well, Grandma can't be bothered, she's busy as a bee, Compiling genealogy for the Family Tree. She has no time to baby sit, the curtains are a fright. No buttons left on Grandpa's shirt, the flower bed's a sight. She's given up her club work, the serials on TV, The only thing she does nowadays is climb the Family Tree. The mail is all for Grandma, it comes from near and far. Last week she got the proof she needs to join the DAR. A monumental project - to that we all agree, A worthwhile avocation - to climb the Family Tree. There were pioneers and patriots mixed with our kith and kin, Who blazed the paths of wilderness and fought through thick and thin. But none more staunch than Grandma, whose eyes light up with glee, Each time she finds a missing branch for the Family Tree. To some it's just a hobby, to Grandma it's much more. She learns the joys and heartaches of those who went before. They loved, they lost, they laughed, they wept - and now for you and me, They live again, in spirit, around the Family Tree. At last she's nearly finished, and we are each exposed. Life will be the same again, this we all suppose. Grandma will cook and sew, serve crullers with our tea. We'll have her back, just as before that wretched Family Tree... Author Unknown. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! 1. A few tips for mailing lists at rootsweb -- ADMIN NOTICE
    2. Shelly Platz
    3. The weather is going to be getting warmer and some of you will be going on vacation starting soon and throughout the summer. Here are some things you may not know about. 1. If you are going on vacation PLEASE do not set your email account to give off an automatic response. All this does is flood the list administrators mail box which some of them really don't like. It is recommended that you unsubscribe until you return from vacation. Just resubscribe when you return. You can check the archives to see what you missed. If you are gone a long time and your email bounces back 4 times then you are automatically removed from the list. If you want to stay on the list you can just resubscribe when returning. 2. Please do not send an email to the list saying unsubscribe. I will just send you an email telling you how to do that. No one wants to open an email thinking it is related to their line and see unsubscribe. 3. To unsubscribe from ANY rootsweb mailing list follow this format: send an email with the word "unsubscribe" only in the body and subject. The address you send it to depends on the list you are subscribed to in example, if you want to unsub from the SHENEMAN-L list you would send the email to SHENEMAN-L-request@rootsweb.com If it is digest version you receive change the L to a D. All you need to do for any list is change the SHENEMAN part to whatever the surname may be. This is also true for location lists. You just type in the name of the list followed by -request@rootsweb.com 4. To subscribe to a list do everything in the above mail but change the word to SUBSCRIBE. 5. If you need to get a hold of the list administrator send an email to (example) SHENEMAN-admin@rootsweb.com Change it according to the list name to reach the appropriate administrator. 6. ALWAYS remember to CHANGE the subject line. This saves time when people are only looking for a certain person. 7. Try to list as much information as you have. If you don't have a lot, don't worry. Just post what you have. You may want to say in the post that is all the information you have on the person. Post every couple of months if you don't get a response. People subscribe to the lists all the time. 8. Be courteous to other posters! This is my pet peeve! If you have a problem with someone on the list you need to contact the list administrator. They will handle it. A good list administrator knows what is going on on their lists and takes care of inappropriate things privately. 9. To search archives use the following format and insert the appropriate list name: http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=Sheneman change to reflect the list you want 10. Threaded archives can be found here: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/Sheneman change to reflect the list you want 11. Read the taglines at the bottom of mailing list posts. They often have important information. These change in a rotating order so they are different with each post. 12. Always reread what you type before you post. This is one that I sometimes forget myself. 13. Make sure when you reply to someone who has posted to look and see that it is going to the whole list. This helps everyone. (unless of course it is private information not to be shared) 14. When posting remember to include any known names, dates and places. You can use the subject line in the same manor. This is a time saver to those that don't want to read every post. I'm sorry if you get this multiple times due to being subscribed to several of my lists. Thanks! Shelly Platz - List Administrator

    1. Re: [JACKEMEYER] Jackemeyer pictures
    2. Shelly Platz
    3. Dolly, Anyone who has a scanner can share pictures easily through email. Then each person can print out their own pictures that are sent to them. Or you can trade through regular mail although it takes longer! A hint......sometimes on websites there are pictures. Unless they are copyrighted you can right click on a picture and you should get a box that comes up. You can save it to your computer. I put pics on my websites all the time. A lot of people do. If someone has lots of pictures I suggest making a website with just pictures then everyone can just visit the site and save the pictures they want. You can make free websites through yahoo. If anyone needs help with that email me privately and I will help you get started. 3. Have you forgotten which RootsWeb lists you joined? Are you no longer getting posts from a list you joined? Maybe you bounced off the list and need to re-sub! It is simple to check and see which lists you currently are on - one of the many features RootsWeb provides for list subscribers is Password Central - http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Enter your e-address into the box and check the square marked "To which lists am I subscribed?" , then scroll down the page to the box at the bottom which says "Email me my info" - click that box, then very shortly you will receive by e-mail a listing of every Rootsweb list to which you are subscribed. In case you forget the url, Password Central links off the RootsWeb Front Page. The link is in the right column under the heading "Help" - http://www.rootsweb.com/
