Since you were kind enough to answer my last question (you set yourself up) - I have another: Is there a way to correct the spelling of an individual's name without totally deleting that individual? I have some typos that unfortunately occurred in the name and it won't let me change them without deleting. I don't mind if I have to delete a name - but then it deletes everything else that pertains to them and that can cause a lot of re-entering. I'm sure there is a way - but I can't figure it out. Help! Hi Fran, I am no expert with FTM. I bought the program and used it for a couple of months after which I switched to Personal Ancestral File (PAF) version 5.0. I went into FTM to see what would happen if I tried to change a name and/or the spelling of a name. I highlighted the letters hit backspace which cleared the name and typed in the corrected name. Then I hightlighed just one letter and typed in a different letter which worked also. Everything else was left intact. I am not sure if this is what you were trying to do. The reason I switched to PAF was a difficult problem with FTM which I could not resolve. I like PAF better and it can be downloaded free from Family Search. Emma could probably tell you how to switch over your present records if you are interested. Sorry to be of so little help.
