Hi Emma, I read Norma A's age on the 1930 census as 12 rather than 17 which means she would have been born 1918/19. That leaves an even longer period of time between Thurman Kenneth and Norma A's births. Hope Glenda can shed some light on this family. The mistake was not yours because the 1920 census showed her as "son". Thanks for the help with H.S. Pless. Edna ENC6@aol.com wrote:Hi Edna, Thanks for the Browning info. below. I am not sure why I had Earie as a son - I had her as a daughter in my database. I guess that typing that census record messed me up... . Thanks so much for her marriage info., etc. Now.... let's talk about these Browning folks for just a minute. James Thomas Browning - md Laura Elizabeth Ivester on 10 Apr 1901 in Stoddard Co., Missouri - Bk. 7, pg. 236 1910 Census - Stoddard Co., Mo: Browning, James Jr. - head - 28 - md1 (10 yrs) - Ill-Ill-Unk-Farmer Laura - wife - 25 - md1 - 2/2 - Mo-Unk-Unk Erie - daughter - 7 - s - Mo-Mo-Mo Edith - daughter - 1 ?/12 - s - Mo-Mo-Mo James Sr. - father - 77 - wd - Ill-Unk-Unk 1920 Census - Kern Co., California Browning, James T. - head - 39 - md - Ill-Ill-Tn - Pile fitter Richfield Oil Co. Laura E. - wife - 37 - md - Mo-Mo-La Earie - son - 17 - s - Mo-Ill-Mo Kenneth - son - 10 - s - Mo-Ill-Mo - Clerk General Merchandise Norma - daughter - 1 - s - Ca-Ill-Mo 1930 - Census - Stoddard Co., Mo Browning, James - head - 48 - md age 19 - Ill-Ill-Tn - Farmer Laura E. - wife - 46 - md age 17 - Mo-Ga-Ark Kenneth T. - son - 19 - s - Mo-Ill-Mo Norma - daughter - 17 - s - Ca-Ill-Mo Naomi E. - daughter - 10 - s - Ca-Ill-Mo Roy C. - son - 7 - s - Ca-Ill-Mo Ok... now.... I figure this: The age 1 for Norma in the 1920 census is wrong and it should be read as 7. I went back and checked and it sure looks like a 1 but....... That would mean that Naomi - age 10 in the 1930 census was born after the 1920 census - which fits. The date of the 1920 census was Feb. 14 and we have a b. date for her of Feb. 28, 1920. So it would seem that their children would be: 1. Earie - b. 3 Feb 1903 - md James C. Kimbriel 2. Edith - b. abt 1909 - prob. deceased before 1920 3. Thurman Kenneth - b. 8 Dec 1910 - md ???? 4. Norma - b. abt 1913 5. Naoma Evelyn - b. 28 Feb 1920 - md ???? Hoover 6. Roy C. Browning - b. 21 Apr 1922 Does this fit with what you have so far???? Glenda - can you help with this family???? Take care - Emma In a message dated 2/9/2003 3:24:44 AM Central Standard Time, ednaicole@yahoo.com writes: Now as to Erie D. Browning, she was a daughter, not a son. She probably remained in California when her family moved back to Missouri since she married James C, Kimbriel around 1920. They are listed on the 1930 Census in Kern County, CA E.D.15-3B Image 6. There are 2 children listed; Maisie (or Mairie) dau. age 9 and Ray (or Roy) E. age 7. Erie was b. 3 Feb 1903 in MO and d. 13 Dec 1993 in Ventura County, CA. She is on SSDI and California Deaths.
