    1. [IVESTER] New Theory - John A. Ivester
    2. Hi Everyone, Have been exchanging information with someone working on the Howell line in Missouri for quite some time now. She has come up with an idea concerning the children for John A. Ivester and I think she has a pretty good one. But.. would like to bounce it off all of you and see what you think. We show John A. Ivester with three marriages: 1. Martha Tillertson - abt 1867 2. Jane Smith - 10 Jan 1886 Stoddard Co., Mo 3. Elizabeth F. Dowdy Howell - 23 Apr 1889 Stoddard Co., Mo Based on the 1870 - 1880 - 1900 - and 1910 census we had the following children for John A. - with Martha 9 children - won't list all of them because their info isn't important to this question - with Jane Lexie F. - b. Sept 1886 - with Elizabeth George Washington - b. 25 May 1890 The 1900 census shows John A. Ivester - Francis his wife and John W. - son Dora B. - daug Mary A. - daug Laura E. - dau Lexie F. - daug - b. Sept 1885 George W. - son Based on that information we had Lexie F. as the daughter of John A. and Jane. Then I found this - 1889 - Mar. 6 - divorce record - final decree for John A. Ivester and wife Jane. No minor children were mentioned in the index but I have not seen the actual divorce record. Now.. John A.'s 3rd wife Elizabeth Frances Dowdy had a previous marriage to Samuel Howell. We know of 3 children for them: - Myra Howell - b. 31 Mar 1879 who later md William Batten Ivester son of John A. Ivester - Elexia Howell - Coswell B. Howell - abt 1876 Elexia would have to be born after the 1880 census as she does not appear there. Could Elexia Howell daug. of Elizabeth Frances Dowdy and Samuel Howell be the Lexie Ivester listed in the 1900 census as age 14 - b. Sept 1885 and not the child of John A. Ivester and Jane as we earlier thought? Any ideas????? Take care - Emma
