    1. Re: [IVESTER] Question about Harry Ivester?
    2. Emma, I don't have any real information about this man - but an interesting story. In 1968, I met an attorney here in Reno (can't remember his name). He was an elderly man at that time and had probably practiced law a good ten years more than normal retirement age. Anyway... the subject of unusual last names came up and I jokingly told him that my maiden name (Ivester) would surely be one he had never heard. When I told him, he started laughing and said that his very first client, as a new attorney, was a Harry Ivester. He said that Harry was a real character, very eccentric, and considered himself the "last of the badboy-cowboys." This must have been in the late twenties - early thirties and Harry was still living on the edge - kinda skirting the fringe of the law. The attorney didn't know what had finally happened to Harry Ivester but, when I was working at the hospital here in Reno, I had an opportunity to look thru some microfische documents and lo and behold, there was Harry Ivester. He had been a patient there sometime in the (I can't remember for sure) 1940s. After seeing that, I looked in the phone book and there were no Ivesters so apparently Harry had no descendants - or at least they didn't stay in Nevada. Back in those days (late 60's) - there was only one phone book for the whole state of Nevada. Sorry I can't provide any info on Harry - but thought you would enjoy the story. Fran
