Thus the Jackson Herald article referring to "Old Man Gabriel" was > indeed this man's death date. > Judy > > Thanks Judy, Now... how about these folks. Found these today. Thomas Gabrels - son of Jacob Gables & Melberry Arrendale. In the 1870 census he is listed in Rabun Co., with his grandmother Sarah Arrendale - age 68 and a Calidonia, age 13. I think Calidonia's last name was Aarendale - not Gables because.... from Rabun Co., Georgia marriages Thomas Gables md Caldonia Arendale on 21 Feb 1875 What do you think - is this Thomas, son of Jacob? Then found this for William Harrison Gables - son of Jacob Gables & Jaley Ann Ivester William H. Gables to J. T. LaCourt on 23 Dec 1883 I think LaCourt should be LaCount - What do you think? And a marriage date for David Matthew McClain - son of Miles McClain and Jaley Ann Ivester D. M. McClain md E. M. Hollifield on 5 May 1881 in Rabun And finally this one that is really interesting. You talked about seeing folks listed as Arrendale and Arnold. Well...... Barbara Arzeley Gables - d/o Jacob Gables & Jaley Ann Ivester supposidly married a William Arnold. But I found this today William Arrendale to Zelia Gables on 13 Jan 1884 in Rabun Co., Ga Betcha this is Barbara Arzeley Gables... what do you think??? Take care - Emma
