The Arnold name has had a way of slipping into this information over the years. For the life of me I cannot recall the connection. The Arnolds were somehow connected briefly in time. Barby Arzeley GABRIEL did marry into the Arnold line. She married William Arnold in 1890. But the census of 1870 that you presented was much before this. In one old census we found that Melberry herself was recorded as Arnold. we had to assume that this was an error and should have been Arrendale. I am wondering if one of Jacob and Melberry Arrendale Gables children did not marry into the Arnold line. Since we have little or no info on three of these Children of Melberry's it could be that one of them had an Arnold connection. Or...did any of Jaley Ann's McClain children perhaps fall into play here!!! That could be it!!! Wish I could recall this as it has been senn and mentioned before. Evidentally it did not seem imprtant at the time of my early research. Interesting because of the Coweta County, Ga. Census. Let me see what I can find in my small amout of McClain info. You know that this is going to drive me crazy, now-don't ya! Judy
