    1. [IVESTER] Interesting Census - Ivester & Gables
    2. HI Everyone, Found an interesting census record concerning Jalen Ann Ivester and 2nd husband Jacob R. Gables. The 1870 census of Clayton, Rabun Co., Ga - pg. 221A has this family: Gobles, Jacob - 42 - farmer - Ga Ann - 35 - keeping house - Ga Eliza - 14 - at home - Ga Nancy - 12 - at home - Ga McClain, Littleton - 15 - Farm Laborer - Ga Jessie - 12 - Farm Laborer - Ga Davie - 10 - Farm Laborer - Ga Henry - 8 - Ga Zealy - 6 - Ga This census was taken on Aug. 23, 1870 Now... most folks probably already have that census. But... remember that family "tradition" that says Jacob was working away from home during the week as a school teacher and brickmason. One weekend he failed to return home and was never heard from again. It is thought that he was possibly robbed and murdered. Well..... found this census record: 1870 - Aug. 22 - Newman, Coweta Co., Georgia - pg. 221B Arnold, James - 65 - farmer - SC Gable, Jacob - 46 - school teacher - SC Arnold, Martha - 38 - house keeper - NC Sarah - 19 - at school - ga Franklin - 17 - at school - Ga What do you want to bet that this is the same Jacob Gables. Then... if anyone is interested in these - 1870 - Rabun Co., Ga Thomas Gables 1870 - Hall Co., Ga Hiram Gabriels Both sons of Jacob and first marriage. Has anyone found Sarah Jane, Joseph, or Warren yet. They are also children of Jacob and his 1st marriage to Melberry Arrendale. Thanks and take care - Emma
