I have a lot of VanDiver info but don't seem to have William Henry Ivesters's wife's parents. Do we know just whose daughter she was? Judy
Hi Judy, Amanda Vandiver was the daughter of Marcus D. Vandiver and Sarah M. Boatright. They appear on the 1880 Census Rabun County, GA Tiger Dist Van Diviere, Marcus D. Head 54 M GA SC GA Farmer Sarah wife 52 M SC VA GA Augustine Dau 21 S GA GA SC Adolphus C Son 18 S GA GA SC Georgia A Dau 16 S GA GA SC Dudley M. Son 15 S GA GA SC Amanda D Dau 7 S GA GA SC 1900 Census Rabun County, GA Tiger Dist Vandivier, Marcus D. Head Jul 1824 75 M 52 GA SC GA Farmer Sarah M. Wife Oct 1826 73 M 52 SC VA GA Georgia Dau July 1862 37 S GA GA GA Amanda Dau July 1871 28 S GA GA GA Ivister, Henry Boarder Jun 1878 21 S GA GA GA Farm Laborer Henry and Amanda married the following year on 27 Oct 1901 in Walhalla, Oconee Co., SC. Henry often visited a family by the name of Massey in Walhalla, SC and even went to the sale of Anderson Ivester's estate with the Massey's son. So it would seem that the Georgia Ivesters kept in touch with the SC relatives.
