I agree totally! So many of my great great grandmother's Nancy Ann Nichols Ivester (later she married Ira C. Dallas Nix) when her husband Jacob Ivester was captured at Gettysburg and later died in New Jersy in a prison camp of smallpox. I want to know about any of these people! The truth! Times were hard on our southern families and maybe some of the truth will shed light on what they had to go through and where possibly we can find them! I have on census where Nancy Ann had SIX children living...one dead child and I have only found four as Janice had found. Those other two children have to be somewhere since two of the original found four were in other households. No where were Nancy Ann and her daughter Lovicia (my great grandmother (who married Mitchell Henry Anderson) found in the 1870 census. The story of her running off to Texas was false but I am unable to prove it yet. She married Ira in 1885 and Lovicia and Mitchell Henry were still in Habersham in 1890 with 6 of their children BORN there. I find Nancy Ann and Ira.....and Mitchell Henry and Lovicia and children in Oklahoma by 1900. SOOOOOOO.....stories! Tell us all and any stories! I don't think any of us descendants are perfect and I'm sure they weren't either! I choose to believe they were 'colorful'....yeah...that's what I am too....colorful! That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Chuck...can you scan those photos?? Do you have the obit? ANY photos any one wants to send me or obits or ANYTHING on our family, I will MOST gladly post to the website! Any stories as to what these people were like would be appreciated! Only by seeing everyone's photos do we gain an understanding why we look the way we do! I know that my daddy (Ivester/Nichols line) was a spitting image to Nancy Ann's uncle Andrew J Nichols...the merchant. My younger brother Oren and I definitely favor this line and he is looking more and more like Andrew J. I'll try to remember to post what photos I have on these families and let ya'll know when I get it done. Till then, you can see what the heck I look like at the following website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ruthptb/Ruth_-_June_2002.html One thing I do know is that Lovicia and Nancy Ann sewed...and they used the 'Snow method'....anyone know what the heck this method is?? Everyone have a good Thanksgiving if you don't hear from me before that! Ruth Padilla Amarillo, Texas >Please do not attempt to spare the feelings of we >decendents of Martha Elizabeth.
