Hi Emma, Thanks for this info. May I ask what is the Township, E.D. #, and page # for the 1910 census. I believe her maiden name was most likely Greer. Edna ENC6@aol.com wrote:Hi Everyone, ..... Just looked at the 1910 census and in they had a child Clyde, age 11/12 in 1910. Also... Jennie in the 1910 census says that she is the mother of 2 children - 1 living. So it looks as if they had a total of 5 children. Does anyone know what Jennie's maiden name was or where they were married? Am wondering if her maiden name might not be Greer. In the 1930 census she has a Annie Greer, sister, age 30, single, living with her. If the "single" is correct then it might be a possibility. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Thank you, Edna. Do you know if the 62nd was with the Army of Northern Virginia or the Army of Tennessee? Hi Everyone, Have a question about Luther Martin Ivester - son of Jasper Newton Ivester & Emma Simmons. The Walker Co., Georgia USGenWeb Archives site shows a marriage for Luther Martin Ivester and Rebecca B. Goode on 14 Mar 1912. But today I found them in the 1910 census in Alamance Co., NC with this listing: Ivester, Luther M. - head - 24 - md1 (2 yrs) - Ga-Ga-Ga - Merchant Hosiery Mill Bessie - wife - 22 - md1 (2 yrs) - Tn-Ga-Tn Gould, Jessie - sister-in-lae - 17 - b. Hi Everyone, Just an FYI - based on the 1920 & 1930 census we had 3 children for Henning Leander Ivester and Jennie: Virginia - age 7 in 1920 J. Hi Family, Emma...Thank you for your help with posting my message. When we get back with Uncle George I'll ask about William & Cary. I have been doing more research in the Stoddard area. George said there was family in the Dudley area. He also stated that there was an Ivester School house. I did manage to find a John A. Ivester that lived in the township of liberty & was a Union Soldier. I have not found any information on his war record yet. I also found a Jacob Ivester along with a J.W. & a B.F. Ivester. I found Jacob in court records. I don't know what this dispute was about but it was Dismissed. I found J.W. also in cout records. He and his wife (Susie) Divorced in August of 1936. A minor child was involved but there was no mention of a name. John A. Also Divorced his wife Jane in March 1889. There was no mention of children. B.F. was a witness and signed a will in May of 1900. So as you can tell I've found some roots. But as usual the digging is going slow. If anybody has any questions or comments or even ideas please let me know. Dawn __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Ruby, So did I. Every once in a while I get one of these and just have to share with the Ivester relations. So far no one has complained. I won't put anything vulgar or inappropriate on here but there are times when we all need a laugh. Especially here in the Southeast. I was unfortunately one of the ones who was without power. Thankfully my power was returned rather quickly but there are still thousands here without power. Also thankfully, my parents only live about an hour from me and still had power so that I could get me kids somewhere warm that they knew and I knew that they would be happy at. Usually I pick on those from states who usually get lots of snow (like Fran) but this time I am the one who got it. My prays are out to all of those still without power. And my Thanks to all those Power Company employees from all over who are here working their respective butts off trying to get us all back in the warmth. We have people from Florida, Alabama, Georgia and even Illinois and Indiana (these guys were glad for the warmth they said, in Ill and Ind it is about 30 as the highs and they think our 20 to 30 as warm days) Paper quoted one guy saying that he worked in single digit temps last week and this was like a heat wave to him. Thanks and God Bless all those who work for the power and phone companies. Regina
Regina, I loved this one. Ruby
Here is another one, I promise last one tonight at least!!!! Regina Escaping through Pakistan While escaping through Pakistan, Osama Bin Laden found a bottle in the sand and picked it up. Suddenly a female genie rose from the bottle and with a smile said, "Master, may I grant your wish?" "You ignorant, unworthy daughter of a dog!" barked Bin Laden. "Don't you know who I am? I need nothing from a woman like you!" The shocked genie said, "Please, sire, I must grant you a wish, or I will be returned to that bottle forever!" Osama thought a moment, grumbling about the woman's impertinence. Finally he said, "Very well, I want to awaken in the morning with three white women in my bed. Now be off with you!" The annoyed genie said, "So be it!" and disappeared. The next morning Bin Laden woke up in bed with Lorena Bobbit, Tonya Harding, and Hillary Clinton. His penis was gone, his knee was broken, and he had no health insurance. God is good.
Hi guys, this really doesn't have anything to do with family research but thought some of you would love it. By the way I guess I am getting a visit from Bubba Claus instead of Santa. Regina Subject: Memo from Santa Claus From: Santa Claus I regret to inform you that, effective immediately,I will no longer serve the States of Georgia,Florida, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi,Texas, and Arkansas on Christmas Eve. Due to the overwhelming current population of the earth, my contract was renegotiated by North American Fairies and Elves Local 209. As part of the new and better contract I also get longer breaks for milk and cookies so keep that in mind. However, I'm certain that your children will be in good hands with your local replacement, who happens to be my third cousin, Bubba Claus. His side of the family is from the South Pole. He shares my goal of delivering toys to all the good boys and girls; however, there are a few differences between us. Differences such as: 1.There is no danger of the Grinch stealing your presents from Bubba Claus. He has a gun rack on his sleigh and a bumper sticker that reads:"These toys insured by Smith and Wesson." 2.Instead of milk and cookies, Bubba Claus prefers that children leave an RC cola and pork rinds [or a moon pie] on the fireplace. And Bubba doesn't smoke a pipe. He dips a little snuff though, so please have an empty spit can handy. 3.Bubba Claus' sleigh is pulled by floppy-eared, flyin' coon dogs instead of reindeer. I made the mistake of loaning him a couple of my reindeer one time, and Blitzen's head now overlooks Bubba's fireplace. 4.You won't hear "On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen.." when Bubba Claus arrives. Instead, you'll hear, "On Earnhardt, on Andretti, on Elliott and Petty." 5."Ho, Ho, Ho!" has been replaced by "Yee Haw!" And you also are likely to hear Bubba's elves respond, "I her'd dat!" 6.As required by Southern highway laws, Bubba Claus' sleigh does have a Yosemite Sam safety triangle on the back with the words "Back Off." 7.The usual Christmas movie classics such as "Miracle on 34th Street" and "It's a Wonderful Life" will not be shown in your negotiated viewing area. Instead, you'll see "Boss Hogg Saves Christmas" and "Smokey and the Bandit IV" featuring Burt Reynolds as Bubba Claus and dozens of state patrol cars crashing into each other. And Finally, 8. Bubba Claus doesn't wear a belt. If I were you, I'd make sure you, the wife, and the kids turn the other way when he bends over to put presents under the tree. Sincerely Yours, Santa Claus One in four people are unbalanced. Think of three friends, if they seem OK, you're the one! Ann Landers
Hi All, I don't have a definitive answer either, however, his delayed birth certificate showed his name to be Frank Newton Ivester. I show him listed the same as Emma on the 1900 census as Francis N. ,female, daughter. On the 1910, 1920 (ED155 2B), and 1930 (ED 69- 13 3B Image 6) censuses, he is listed as Frank N. Ivester. I think that Francis probably gave himself a nickname. Francis was rather a femine sounding name -as we usually think of Frances. But we can see that the census did give his middle name as Newton. Judy
