    1. [IVESTER] Jackson Alexander Ivester
    2. Edna Cole
    3. Hi Frank and all, Quite some time back I found a Jack Ivester who was killed in a coal mine in Dayton, Rhea (pronounced Ray) County, TN. I thought that it was probably Jackson Alexander Ivester, the son of John and Priscilla Murphey, but I had nothing to substantiate it and you had no information on him or his family either. Subsequently, I found information for a Jack A. Ivester (born abt 1896) on the 1910 Rhea County, census living with Hezekiah and Carrie Genoe in Rhea County, TN. I surmised that he was probably the son of Jackson A. Ivester who had remarried a Carrie. Just before Christmas I located a descendant who confirmed that Jack A. was her father and her grandfather, Jack was killed in a coal mine explosion before her father was born. Her father was Jackson Alexander Ivester, but never used Jr. Are you interested in information on this family? Edna --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. 3. Happy New Year from Amarillo, Texas!! This group is the greatest!!! Thanks for all your help and the wonderful postings.......and....for your understanding in my being so slow at getting my life together instead of genealogy at this time! Here's hoping genealogy this year will take off for everyone! Ruth >Just wanted to wish you all a GREAT NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >>From the Eastern Time Zone. > > Regina Don't forget the five simple rules to be happy: Free your heart from hatred. Free your mind from worries. Live simply. Give more. Expect less. Other good advice: No one can go back and make a brand new start. Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way. Disappointments are like road bumps, they slow you down a bit but you enjoy the smooth road afterwards. Don't stay on the bumps too long. Move on! When you feel down because you didn't get what you want, just sit tight and be happy, because God has thought of something better to give you. When something happens to you, good or bad, consider what it means. There's a purpose to life's events, to teach you how to laugh more or not to cry too hard.

I think my next step is to find the court house & start asking questions. What do you think? Dawn Hi Dawn, Sorry I did not get to finish last night. Here are the census records I have for the Iron Co., Missouri group. Let me know if you would like any of the information from these. Take care - Emma William C. Eddington 1850 - Wayne Co., Mo 1860 - Iron Co., Mo. Jacob Ivester who married Mary Jane Carnahan 1850 - Wayne Co., Mo 1860 - Iron Co., Mo 1880 - Iron Co., Mo 1900 - Iron Co., Mo 1910 - Iron Co., Mo Died 1911 Have additional census on Jacob and Mary Jane's children. Elizabeth Ivester 1850 - Wayne Co., Mo 1860 - Iron Co., Mo Wish we could find what happened to her. Did she die young or did she marry? Cary L. Ivester 1850 - Wayne Co., Mo 1860 - Iron Co., Mo. Same thing here - wish we could find what happened to her. Did she die young or did she marry? I also show 4 Eddington children for William C. Eddington and Cary: James F. Lucinda Lawson Nancy L. These children are in the 1860 census. Does anyone have these children in later census records? Wish we could find William Eddington and Cary in some census later than 1860. Also wish we could find where William Eddington and Cary married. AND... don't forget that John Ivester in the 1850 census of York Co., SC. We have yet to match him up with a family. Nor have I found him in the 1860 census - has anyone else?????? Based on this census he would have been born abt. 1820. In the 1850 census he is shown with wife Sarah and son William born abt 1849. Could this John Ivester be the father of Jacob, Elizabeth, and Cary Ivester who are in the 1850 census of Wayne Co., Mo with William C. Eddington? We have always assumed that Jacob's (who married Mary Jane Carnahan) father was deceased. What if John Ivester and Cary divorced or ended their marriage in some way and she then married William C. Eddington? Remember that in the 1820 census John Ivester and Elizabeth Helms are shown with 2 sons under the age of 5. That is the last census we have found this John Ivester and Elizabeth Helms. But.... could one of those sons have been the John Ivester who was father of the Jacob Ivester who married Mary Jane Carnahan? And... could that other son in 1820 be the Jacob Ivester who married Nancy Massey and is in the 1850 census of Walker Co., Ga?

Judy Christmas is special isn't it. We went to Oklahoma for Christmas - to my home town of Sayre. Although we spent Christmas Eve in the motel room because Shannon was ill we still got to see lots of family and eat lots of good food and have lots of fun. Christmas Day was just beautiful there - cold but sunny with about 8 inches of snow on the ground. It was the prettiest Christmas Day I remember in quite a while - people kept using the word perfect to describe the day. Hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas as well. Take care - Emma

Iron Co., Missouri Jacob Ivester and Mary Jane Carnahan This Jacob Ivester is the son of a John Ivester and Cary ????. I believe that this John Ivester is a brother to the Jacob Ivester who married Nancy Massey and that both are the sons of John Ivester and Elizabeth Helms. Now... understand... this is theory only but based on some early census records, etc. that is what I think at this time. As for the Carnahan connection.... Iron Co., Missouri Jacob Ivester married Mary Jane Carnahan. Mary Jane Carnahan was the daughter of James Carnahan and Martha Woodward. James Carnahan was the son of Hugh Carnahan and Elizabeth Tennison Stoddard Co., Missouri Jacob Ivester and Nancy Massey had a son Asa Monroe Ivester. Asa Monroe Ivester md Mary Ann Jinkins and they had a son named John Ivester. That John Ivester married Margaret Emily Carnahan. Margaret Emily Carnahan was the daughter of James Newton Carnahan and Leo Dicia Johnston. James Newton Carnahan was the son of John Carnahan and Margaret England John Carnahan was the son of Hugh Carnahan and Elizabeth Tennison Like John I have lots of Carnahan and Tennison info. Let us know what you would like to see. Hope this helps a bit - take care - Emma

Dawn Hi Again Dawn, As for our next steps. One of the most needed items is when Jacob Ivester and Nancy Massey died. We need to know if there are any probate records concerning their deaths. Based on the information I have it would appear that they are alive as late as Dec. 11, 1891 when they sell 40 acres of land to son Benjamin F. Ivester. This deed was recorded on Dec. 16, 1893 in Stoddard Co., Mo. It is possible that Benjamin did not record the deed until Jacob and Nancy died. If so then they were dead by Dec. 1893. If there are any funeral records available concerning their death that would also be helpful. The funeral records might list their parent's names and we need that very badly. And then... any court, land deed, etc. records that might list names of relatives would also help. I have a lot of the probate and estate records for Asa Monroe Ivester who died in Stoddard Co., Mo. Let me know if you would like me to send the info. from some of those. Hope this helps with ideas of what we need for this line. Thanks and take care - Emma
