Hi Everyone, Have a question for you.... Peter Thomas Ivester - son of Jacob Ivester and Mary Jane Carnahan md Mary Minnie Thompson children: Daisy S. - July 1892 Jesse T. - 28 Aug 1893 John N. - 24 Nov 1894 Arthur Mayfield - 26 Apr 1896 Leanol M. - 17 Aug 1897 Mary Ellen - Dec 1898 Neoma V. - 1900 Charles W. - 9 July 1902 George H. - 1904 Paul - 1906 Edna - 1908 Earl - 1910 Louis russell - 6 Sept 1911 Jewel - abt 1914 Delmer - abt 1916 1900 census has children: Daisy S.; Jesse J.; John N.; Arthur M.; Leanon M.; Mary E. 1910 census has children: Jessie T.; Johnny N.; Arthur M.; Mary E.; Nora V.; Charles W.; George H.; Paul; Edna; Earl 1920 - Can anyone tell me where they are in 1920???? 1930 census - Mary is a wd - children listed are Paul; Earl; Louis; Jewel; Elmer; Daisy S. either died or is married before the 1910 census. Jessie T. died in 1927 - Did he ever marry? John N. - He died in 1984 - Did he ever marry? Arthur - Have him and wife Carrie in 1930. Leanol - died in 1907 Mary Ellen - Does anyone know anything about her? Neoma - Does anyone know anything about her? Charles W. - Have him and his wife in 1930. George H. or O. - Have him and his wife in 1930. Paul - Have him in 1930 Edna Ivester - Does anyone know anything about her? Earl Ivester - Have him in 1930 Louis Russell - Have him in 1930 Jewel - Have him in 1930 Delmer - Have him in 1930 But... also found this in 1960: In Iron Co - Union Township - living right next to George Ivester and his wife Bertha is this listing Sims, Lee - age 43 - Mo Grace - wife - 20 - Mo Ivester, Elma E. - step daughter - 2 4/12 - Mo Sims, Willie - brother - 43 - div - Mo It would appear that Grace is either a widow of an Ivester or divorced from an Ivester. I am wondering if she could be the widoe of Jesse T. Ivester, son of Peter Thomas Ivester and Mary Minnie Thompson. The other good possibility would be John N. Ivester but since Jesse died in 1927 I am sort of wondering if he isn't the best candidate. Anyone know????? Thanks - Emma
Emma, Here is what I have in regards to your questions about the family of Peter Ivester. In 1982 I met and interviewed Arthur Mayfield Ivester who was 86 at the time. He seemed to have a very good memory and we went down the list of his siblings. He gave me what he could. I unfortunately have not done a lot of research on this line since then. I have a Joe Ivester on my list instead of a Jewel Ivester. So, I don't know which one is correct or not. Arthur Ivester told me that Joe Ivester disappeared in the 1930's. 1. Daisy S. Ivester married Bert Pinkley on 8/8/1908 in Iron County, Missouri. I have not traced them further. 2. Jesse T. Ivester. I have a copy of his death certificate and it says he was single at the time of death. He died in St. Louis as the result of a dynamite explosion on his job for the city sewer. He was living with his mother Mary Mae Thompson Ivester Elrod at the time of his death. She is the informant on the death certificate and her address is the same as his. I still don't know if Mary Thompson Ivester Elrod died in Missouri or in Illinois. 3. John N. Ivester - I don't know if he married. 4. Mary Ellen Ivester - no further information. 5. Edna Ivester - no further information. 6. The Elma E. Ivester living next to George Ivester - no further information. That's all I have for now. With 15 children this is a big family to track down. This is also Dawn's line. On the post about Charles Henry Ivester's children, I wanted to add a few things. My grandfather was Lewis Sylvester Ivester and the following is the information I got from him and the family bible. Birtha Estelle Ivester (notice the spelling of Birtha) B:3-14-1906 D:6-6-1947 M:William Austin Ivester Clois Idellar Ivester B:1-2-1908 D: 10-14-1986 M: Newton Preston Ivester (We called him uncle Newt) Lewis Sylvester Ivester B:11-4-1909 D:12-6-1997 M:12-7-1929 Ada Valree Moore (D/O Virgil and Rebecca Carver Moore, sister of Ila Ruby Moore) Bessie Clarie Ozella Ivester B:9-8-1911 D:2-22-1982 M:Allen Asbury Galloway then Roger Guy VanHook Loy Lee Kay Ivester B: 3-10-1913 D:3-29-1992 M: Ila Ruby Moore (sister of Ada Valree Moore) Pernell Lizabell Ivester B:1-1-1916 M:Ben P. Ivester Lonnie Henry Ivester B:4-27-1919 D:10-27-1921 Luther Edder Ivester B:3-3-1921 D:4-7-1988 M: Iolar Mae Densmore Walter Lee Ivester B:12-28-1925 M: Clara Eugenia Densmore As just a little side note, my grandmother Ada Valree Moore had her headstone made and put her name as Valaree Ada Ivester. Which is not only the incorrect spelling of Valree (as was on her birth certificate) but it is also in the incorrect order. Won't that confuse some of the researchers later on! Tresa
Edna, Thanks again for the information. I tried to take everything and put it together and updated part one. Just sent that message so you should have it. As for James - son of Robert H. Ivester - the last time I have him is in the 1880 census. He is not listed with Robert and Susannah in 1900 or 1910. But... as you can see in that message I just checked and found Bessie (Rebecca Beatrice) in the 1910 census with her parents and listed as single. I tried every variation I could think of for Ivester and James/Jim/J., etc in the 1910 census index on Heritage Quest site and did not find James at all. Any ideas???? Ivester Jones was b. 26 Mar 1944 and died 20 Feb 1998; she was buried first at Thompkins Family Cem, but since that cemetery is now under Lake Keowee, all graves were moved to Wolf Stake Baptist Ch., Oconee County, SC. She was married to W.B. Jones. Amazing what info is found on gravestones. BTW I left the prior info on this family below. Edna This one has to do with Bessie, James, Jim, Jasper, Joseph et al. So I will begin with the Census. 1920 Oconee County, SC Tugaloo Twp E.D.144-19A Image 37 Adams, Jessie M. Head O F 63 M SC SC SC Farmer Amanda J. They share a double marker at Oconee Memorial Gardens, Seneca, Oconee, SC which reads "Jim" Ivester and lists his parents as Jim and Bessie Adams Ivester. So Jim was a James Ivester, Jr. " Bessie" is listed as Rebecca B. on the 1920 census so "Bessie" was likely her nickname and her given name was Rebecca Beatrice. She was b. 30 Jan 1886- d. 2 Sep 1976 and she is buried at Unity Bapt. Church in Oconee County, SC. Jasper Ivester was listed as Joseph on the 1920 census, but as Jasper on subsequent records. He is the Jasper Ivester that you have an obit for his daughter Dorothy Victory Ivester Murphy listed on "Need to ID Part 3 p.2". It shows his wife as Eva Swafford Moore. It also gives the names of their children. Thanks for this info now I can do further searching. Now here is where Robert H. Ivester came in. He had a son James that seems to be the only James available who could have been the husband of Bessie and the father of Jim and Jasper. The census indicates that James, Sr. and Jasper were born in Georgia. I have not found the 1910 Census for James,Sr and Bessie and they should be on it since Jim, Jr. was born in June of that year. Also, James, Sr. may have been still living in 1920 since Rebecca B.'s marital status was M. What do you have on this James? Edna --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Emma, Another mistake my notes are correct, but I typed the wrong answer. George O. was the s/o Peter Thomas, s/o Jacob and Mary Jane Carnahan Ivester. Whoops, while I was typing this I found what I was doing to cause the errors. Robert H. etc. was part of the next answer. Which I will answer now . This one has to do with Bessie, James, Jim, Jasper, Joseph et al. So I will begin with the Census. 1920 Oconee County, SC Tugaloo Twp E.D.144-19A Image 37 Adams, Jessie M.
