    3. Hi Emma, I read Norma A's age on the 1930 census as 12 rather than 17 which means she would have been born 1918/19. That leaves an even longer period of time between Thurman Kenneth and Norma A's births. Hope Glenda can shed some light on this family. The mistake was not yours because the 1920 census showed her as "son". Thanks for the help with H.S. Pless. Edna ENC6@aol.com wrote:Hi Edna, Thanks for the Browning info. below. 1. Re: [IVESTER] from the Jacob Ivester & Nancy Massy Family
    2. Hi Emma, Yes Aunt Grace had two daughters Judith Frances and Mary Jo they are both from her first marriage. Anthony (Tony)Cataldo. You asked if I had found his son W. H. in the 1930 records I have not but found a letter from Pacific Fire Insurance Co., New York dated Jan. 23, 1931 from a Dixwell Davenport, Mgr. San Francisco, CA stating W.H. had been in his employment for the past sixteen months as a chauffeur. He was giving him a good reference so he must have been in San Francisco in 1930. Have a card from Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks made out to William H. Ivester good until June 30, 1924 on the back is stamped Bakersfield Lodge No. 45. Also have a Western Union Telegram to W. H. Ivester, 2178 Newton Ave. San Diego California from his Uncle George offering him a job in a garage that George had purchased it is dated Apr. 3, 1926. I have been going through some old papers Mom gave me of grand dad it shows he was administrator of his father's John A. Ivester. It has all kinds of quick deeds and things in it. Has papers showing Jacob F. Ivester and wife Lena K. Ivester selling their land to paid for his trial. He shot a John Fletcher he employed a J. W. Farris and Geo. Munger as his attorney. Don't know if he went to jail or not. Mom has always told me about Barbara Ivester Eason having a brother name Jake that was in the Pen for killing a man which if I remember correctly was a Doctor (not sure of that). Don't know if Jacob and Jake or the same or not. Need to tell you we are switching from AOL to Comcast.net still will be rmeasl. What do I need to do to keep on the list? Ruby

    1. [IVESTER] Missing Ivester's....
    2. Hi Everyone, I can't find the following folks in census records. Have tried all the indexes that I have access to with no luck. Am hoping that some of you might have found them or that you might have some unlinked Ivester's that you have found that might fit with these folks. All of them are from the Jacob Ivester and Nancy Massy line. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks and take care - Emma Of course, I am still hunting for Jacob Ivester and Nancy Massy in the 1830 and 1840 census records. This would be before their marriage. Just thought I would stick that in.... <g>. But.. here are the others: Joseph H. Ivester & Nancy E. Solomon They md in 1876 in Stoddard Co., Mo. and are in the 1880 census there. After that they disappear. In 1880 they have 2 children: Thomas J. and Benjamin F. Martha J. Ivester & William Clayton Snider had 3 children: John T., Nellie, & Stella. Martha died sometime around 1900 between Stella' & Nellie's birth (they were twins) and William's 2nd marriage to Dora Ivester (Martha's sister) in Oct. 1901. Stella is in the 1910 census as age 10 but Nellie is missing - so she is possibly deceased. Does anyone know if Nellie died or is living with someone else in 1910? And... I lose Stella after 1910. Does anyone know who she might have married? Nor can I find William C. Snider and Dora Belle Ivester in the 1920 census. Any ideas???? William Herbert Ivester - b. abt 1902 - son of William Batten Ivester & Myra Howell. He married someone named Mabel. I have him in the 1910 census as a son - age 8. But cannot find him in 1920 or 1930. Grace Ivester - b. abt 1904 - daughter of William Batten Ivester & Myra Howell. She married an Anthony Catildo and then and Edward Wheeler. I have her in the 1910 and 1920 census but cannot find her in the 1930. Earie Browning - b. 3 Feb 1903 - son of James Thomas Browning and Laura Elizabeth Ivester. Have not yet found him in 1930. Ruthie Carnahan & Henry Ward Passmore. Ruthie was daughter of Joseph Pennington Carnahan & Laura Elizabeth Ivester. They should be in the 1930 census of Beckham Co., Oklahoma but have not found them so far. nancy A. Ivester - b. abt 1871 - d/o John A. Ivester and Martha Tillertson. she md Joseph W. Fields in 1891. I have them for the 1920 and 1930 census but have not found them in t eh 1900 and 1910 census. Benjamin F. Ivester - b. abt 1880 - s/o Joseph H. Ivester and Nancy E. Solomon. He md. Rosa Riddle in 1904 in Stoddard Co., Mo. Benjamin then died in 1910 leaving 2 children. Rosa Riddle Ivester and her two sons are living with her parents in the 1910 census. Orville and Floyd Ivester - the two sons are in the 1930 census in michigan. But I cannot find Rosa, Orville, or Floyd in 1920. I believe that Rosa married James Smothers on 27 Feb 1916 in Stoddard Co., Mo. William R. Ivester - b. abt 1859 in Ark - son of Jacob Ivester & Nancy Massy. He married Delitha Hosteller on 8 Sept 1878 in Stoddard Co., Mo and then they disappear. Have not located them in the 1880 census or any census after that. Jacob Foster Ivester - b. 19 June 1860 in Arkansas - son of Jacob Ivester and Nancy Massy. Jacob md 3 times: 1st to Francis M Norman; 2nd to Elizabeth Davis on 3 July 1884; 3rd to Amanda C. Heflin on 13 Apr 1902. I have him with various marriages or as a widow in the 1880, 1900, 1910, and 1930 census but cannot find him in the 1920 census. His children Ida Em, Marion Labot, Alice L., Lula M. Barbara E. and Jacob W. are also missing in various census at various times. George W. Ivester - b. abt 1864 - son of Jacob Ivester and Nancy E. Massy. George is listed as age 16 in the 1880 census with his parents and then he disappears. He could have died or moved somewhere else. Doyal Ivester - b. 14 July 1908 - son of Benjamin Franklin Ivester & Leallier Howell. He married Ola Amanda Thomas in 1929. I have not yet found this family in the 1930 census. Ok... that's it..... Hope some of you have found some of these folks. Thanks and take care - Emma

    1. [IVESTER] from Jacob Ivester & Nancy Massy line of Missouri - question
    2. Glenda, You were right. James Thomas Browning and Laura Elizabeth Ivester were in the 1930 census for Stoddard Co., Mo so they must have moved from Missouri to California - back to Missouri - and then back to California (I guess). Have some questions: In the 1910 census for Stoddard Co., Mo the family looks like this: James Browning - age 28 Laura - age 25 Erie - age 7 - listed as daughter Edith - age 1 ?/12 and James's father also named James, age 77 In the 1920 census for Kern Co., California the family looks like this: Browning, James T. - age 39 Laura E. - age 37 Earie - age 17 - this time listed as a son Kenneth - age 10 Norma(?) - age 1 which would indicate b. date around 1910 AND... in the 1930 census in Stoddard Co., Mo the family looks like this: Browning, James - 48 Laura E. - 46 Kenneth T. - 19 Norma - 17 - would indicate b. date of 1913 Naomi E. - 10 - which would indicate b. abt 1920 Roy C. - age 7 Can you help clear up how many children James Browning and Laura Ivester had and their names???? Also... do you know when and where James and Laura died? Thanks and take care - Emma

And... have you found Grace in the 1930 census yet? All I have is that William Herbert md someone named Mabel. Did they have any children? As for Grace I show her married 1st to Anthony Catildo and 2nd to Edward Wheeler. I can't find Catildo in the index for 1930 at all. Could it be spelled another way or do I have the spelling wrong? And... did Grace have any children from either marriage? Thanks and take care - Emma

    1. Re: [IVESTER] Question about Harry Ivester?
