So many of those surnames are surnames who married Ivesters at one time or another. I found Hubbard, Peeler, Willis, Goode, Hoyle, Crow, Self, Cline, Norman, Whisnant, & Crotts in those lists and I probably missed some others. This is a wonderful site. Thanks so much - Emma
Hi Edna, I am sorry - but I have tried several times and cannot find this picture. I must be doing something wrong. Ok Edna, You should get this at your yahoo address. Hope it worked. Take care - Emma
The following is taken from today's Eastman's Newsletter: Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter - http://www.rootscomputing.com I have received e-mail about the following companies; all have been mentioned as having questionable services. I have listed URLs where you can obtain further information: Family Discovery.com - an online Web site that claims to have "the Web's most versatile Award Winning collection of genealogical databases." However, they don't mention the "award" they received from the Better Business Bureau! The Bureau says, "Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau due to unanswered complaint(s)." Family Discovery.com charges $59.99 for a one- year subscription. Most of the same information is available elsewhere on the Web at no charge. In fact, many of the links on FamilyDiscovery.com simply take you to free Web sites. You can obtain the same information at no cost by using one of the free search engines. Details are available on the Genealogical Web Site Watchdog site at: http://www.ancestordetective.com/watchdog.htm#Warning. There is an Anti-FamilyDiscovery.com newsletter at: http://compuright.dyndns.org/familydiscovery/ The xxx Family Yearbook - In this case, substitute your last name for the "xxx." For instance, an advertisement sent to a person named Smith would be advertising The Smith Family Yearbook while someone named Clark would receive an advertisement for The Clark Family Yearbook. These "yearbooks" claim to have genealogy information. However, those who purchase the "products" are usually disappointed. The producing company has several business names; for example, you can find them listed as Mountain West News Service or as the Mountain Pacific News Service. They also may appear as an organizational name, such as "The Smith Family Yearbook." However, all these "companies" have the same address: 1181 S. Parker Road, #105, Denver, CO 80231. The Better Business Bureau lists the parent company as MORPHCORP. The News Herald of Panama City, Florida has an article about these "products" at: http://www.newsherald.com/articles/2000/04/16/tp041600.htm Family Tree House - I wrote about this company in the October 31, 1998 edition of this newsletter. The company gives an appearance of a Web site that offers genealogy services. In fact, it does not appear to sell anything. However, the same company advertises on another Web site with an offer to sell personal information obtained from genealogists who visit the Family Tree House site. You innocently enter personal information about yourself on Family Tree House and then operators of the site sell your personal information to bulk mail companies. Information for sale includes name, address, e-mail address and more. You can read that article at: http://ancestordetective.com/watchdog.htm#sells
Hi Emma, Thanks so much for all that you do for us. I got the message at my own e-mail address. Now I have a question for you. Is there reasonable proof that your ancestor Jacob Ivester, Jr was the son of Jacob (s/o Hugh) and Margaret? I have been working on your line and I sure was confused with the John Wesley Ivesters, then I discovered there were four children of John A. and Asa Monroe who had the same names. Welcome Susan. The more, the merrier... and hopefully some new information. Fran
Emma, Ruth, Fran, Edna, & John, I am assuming that I am the person that Emma refers to as the stranger on the list, I have been corresponding with Ruth and Fran for about a year or there bouts. I am from the Rucker/Rooker line from what "we think" might be a sister of Ruth and Fran's Anna. I just signed up to keep tabs on this list for awhile, because I was not getting any where in the place I was searching so I decided to "play checkers" a while and move sideways, This side of the family have always liked checkers so maybe the strategy will get me to a new place. Hi Everyone, This is being sent to the new Ivester list on rootsweb and the old Ivester list on yahoo. I just checked the subscriber list and it looks like Edna, Fran, John, Ruth, and Frank have made it to the new list. We also have a new person whose screen name I do not recognize. So... just a short history for that person. A group of us have been sharing Ivester information using what started out as a onelist group. Those lists have now been taken over by yahoo and because of problems with getting tech support, etc. it seemed like a good idea to move to Rootsweb and expand the list to anyone working on the Ivester name. And.. this group opened a few days ago. So welcome to the group. Hopefully others will soon join us. I am going to try to get to GenForum tonight and let folks know that the list now exists on RootsWeb. And.. please let anyone else that you think might be interested know as well. As soon as we get a few more folks signed on I will be asking that you share your line just to give us a start up. In the mean time, post away. I do hope all of you enjoy the list. - Thanks - Emma
Fran could you please forward the picture you ask for of Nancy Rucker, I have a pic of Jerucia Scott Earnheart Stoops, I would like to compare the two..
