    3. My "brick wall" people are named Rosson. I reach a brick wall with Elias Rector Rosson, b 12.29.1836 in MO, d 5.20.1920 in Drumright OK. He was married to Mary Jane Sherman, b Il. I find him first on the 1850 census working as a larborer on a farm in MO, age 16. Family oral history says this Rosson name came from John Ross line, as in son of Ross or Ross's son. I'm totally dead in the water in finding Elias' parents, etc. So far haven't found him listed in census as a child. Does this family story sound off the wall or could there be truth in the name evolution? 3. Mary Lou, I am interested in your STANTON & KING family in IT. My grandfather was King David STANTON. He married my grandmother on June7, 1907 in Allen, OK. Her name was Addie Pearl DUNNAM STANTON. They went to IT after 1900 from Union County, MS. Both the STANTON & DUNNAM families were in the 1900 Union County, MS Census. Grandmother's family was: Father - Tehofihlous ("Opp or Off" nickames) Greenberry DUNNAM. He married Alice REED. My grandmother was born in the 1890s, if memory serves. Grandfathers family: Father James S. STANTON m. Mary Elizabeth MOTES. Mary Elizabeth's father was King Cyrus MOTES. Hence my interest in the KING line. Is it possible there is some connection to your KING line because of the given names? Grandpa K. D. STANTON was seventh in a list of 8 known siblings. They are: William Lemuel STANTON, Leonard STANTON, Annce STANTON, James F. STANTON, Sarah E. STANTON, Lamar STANTON, my Grandfather, and Viola STANTON. with birthdates ranging from 1872-1886. If any of this is familiar to you let me know. My information from Grandpa was that his grandmother was a Chickasaw. I don't know if it was his maternal or paternal grandmother. The only picture I have of his mother indicates strong Native American features. His paternal grandmother was Eliza Jane WALKER STANTON m. Burrell STANTON in 1854 in Tishomingo Co., MS. I don't have Eliza Jane's parentage yet but there seems to be a possiblity that she is Joel WALKER son of Tandy WALKER's sister. Not proven but I have seen indications that this is a good possiblility. Pardon this confusing post. I'm operating tonight with only half a brain. If anyone on the list connects, please contact me.
