    2. Donna
    3. I am at a loss when it come to my G-ma Matilda Tucker...her birth year was 1873 in Oklahoma which she use to call Indian Territory. I do not know who her mother or her Mothers family is but her father is James Marcus Tucker, he took her to his mother to let his mother raise her. Below is a little info. If anyone has any ideas please help me...maybe I think to hard the the obvious just passes right in front of my face. Thank you...Donna Looking for any info. On Matilda Lynard Tucker Plummer.....She was married to George Washington Plummer around 1882 they lived in Jefferson County Arkansas. Matilda's father is James Marcus Tucker he was 19 years old when she was born, her mother I do not know but some family say her last name was something like SPECK . Matilda was born July 4 1873 in Oklahoma Indian Territory. 1870 Census shows James Marcus 16 yrs old still living with his Mother Clarissa Williams Tucker then in 1880 it shows Matilda living with her G-ma Clarissa. Thank you in advance.....Donna

    3. Glee: It's great that you took the time to sort out fact from fiction. So many stories handed down from generation to generation are embellished for greater entertainment and sometimes the original story is far from what we've heard. I'll have to check and see how much text this list is set for. I haven't changed it since Rootsweb changed over to Mailman. Again, thank you! Anyone with old Indian Territory family stories, please share. I have several in which the same man had a part, Wyatt Williams. My g granddady is in the first and goes before Hanging Judge Parker. Through the first story posting, I've been contacted by Wyall Williams' great nephew and we have become email friends. Ironic. You may view these stories on the Grady CO OK Archives: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ok/grady/history/shootout.txt http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ok/grady/history/trial.txt Best, Sandi --- Glee Krapf <gleek@ptd.net> wrote: > Thank you to everyone who has written and said that they enjoyed the story. > Had to put it in three parts to get it onto the list. 3. Thank you to everyone who has written and said that they enjoyed the story. Had to put it in three parts to get it onto the list. Usually mail lists only allow so much and not more so had to brake it down into parts. Each mail list owner fixs the list to accept a certain amount and I did not know how much I could send at a time. I spent a lot to time and research putting this article together. There are so many mythis connected to this story. I tried to tell it as it really happened and not to embroadery on the facts. It is a personal story to me because my 2nd great grandmother got killed in the story. Her daughter lost her mother and then at the trial of Zeke she lost her husband at the shoot out and she had a small boy to raise. I have one picture of him. He never married. His name was John Beck. My mother knew him and he gave her a cedar doll chest when she was a little girl and it now belongs to me. So I sorta have momento of the family story in a round about way The family is famular with the story but most do not know all the facts about it. I am happy that you all enjoyed it. Glee

My husband's Mother Carrie Bethina Dudley bn 1892 in Al stated to me she was part Indian and she looked Indian as well. Her mother and father were Walter Green Dudley bn 1871 and Susan Frances Theodochia Edwards bn 1872. Her Great Grand Parents were Eben Peyton Edwards bn 1835 and Mary Ann Broughton bn1837. Her Great Grand Parents were James Broughton bn 1803 and Lydia Stewart bn 1803. She never really named her ancestors But in census research I have sorted out this much. I would like to pin down her roots further. If there is anyone who can help me I would appreciate it very much Betty Rackley Taylor

    3. Well done Glee. I have read about this "shoot-out" before, but always good to hear again. I picked up some new bits and peaces for my data base. It seems that You and my wife Pat Hood are 1/2, 5th cousins. I am also looking for the name of Chief Chad Smith's Grand father, I have all the names of Redbird Smith's children, but I don't know which one is the right one. Thanks again for posting the story. Ralph
