    3. Thank you very much. I do believe that the EC# has to do with, at one point in time, people were having to prove their Creek heritage in order to be paid for lands that were lost. Not the Guion Miller, but something like it. Thank you. The roll number would be a number assigned to a tribal member of the that specific tribe of Creek Indians. A person would have a number if they enrolled with that tribe. For instance. My Great Grandparents are Cherokee. They are listed on the Dawes Rolls for the Cherokee Nation. Each was given a roll number. That meant that they were apart of the Cherokee Nation Tribe. Does anyone know why a family group would put this on their headstones? SAPPELOKE is also on the 1832 Fish Pond, AL Creek census. A female. Thank you. Vonda

    1. [IT-INDIAN] Family Mysteries:
    2. vonda miller
    3. My Creek ancestor Winnie HUNT was born 4 DEC 1797 in Unknown Georgia d.1851 AL. (I assume in Roberts Cummunity) She was said to have been a teacher in around Baldwin, Ga. She and her husband John PARKER migrated to "Roberts Community" Conecuh, AL sometime after 1814. Family rummor is that Winnie HUNT PARKER was the first teacher in Roberts Community, but I can't find any documentation on this. She is believed to have died abt.1851 and might be buried in the Elim Babtist Cemetery, the church that her husband John PARKER is said to have help found. I would think that there would be some documentation on a Creek woman who was the first teacher in of a town and who's husband was a founder of their local church, but I can't find any. Winnie HUNT PARKER's parents are even more of a mystery. I can't find any proof that they ever lived. They are said to be John HUNT who was "AKA - BIGBEE" and her mother, some people say was named Rebecca, but in Ann C. Water's book (An AL Historian) she writes that Winnie's mother was "Wulu". I have no idea what Wulu could mean. Doesn't seem like a complete Creek word, but I do not know the Creek language. I haven't been able to find anyone who knows much about this family. Their decendents, yes, but not the ancestors of Winnie HUNT. Seems as if her parents didn't survive to live in the 1800s. I don't know though. Any information is helpful. Thank you. Vonda

    3. An ancestor cousin of mine has a family name written on the foot of her headstone. My ancestor is Magdalene (PARKER-maiden) She married many times: Barlow Rice Smith Chapman. At the foot of her headstone is written "Misty Star Sappeloke". Magdalene PARKER was born: October 29, 1926 Grady Co., GA. died: January 13, 1997 Atlanta, Ga. I was told that her brother Clarence FILED CLAIM #50510 USING EASTERN CREEK NUMBER 11245 (MARY SAPP ) I have no idea what claim nor with whom for what...ect... Her father was William Walter PARKER born December 12, 1872 Jackson Co., Fl. died May 21, 1953 Grady Co, Ga. s/o Robert Samuel PARKER and Mary Barrow (SAPP?). I am told that other family members also have the name Sappeloke at the foot of their headstones as well. Does anyone know of this family? Why the name on the headstones? Does anyone know of the town/ territory in Alabama called Fish Pond? Sappeloke is on the 1832 census in Fish Pond. Female. There's no other information. Anyone have any ideas? I need lots of suggestions, any suggestions. Thank you. Vonda

I was told my Great Grandmother was part Cherokee but have found no evidence. If there is someplace I can get a start on that aspect of my history it would be great.
